Why settle for one expensive hobby when you can have two?
The guitarist in my first professional band used to wear his watch upside down on the inside of his wrist. When he'd glance at it he'd reach over the neck seamlessly and play in that manner. He was a virtuoso and could pull that move off.
I have a very fancy flashy Invicta with abalone dial. It weighs over 16 ounces. Id never dream of wearing it while I play. I slap a fair amount. My basses would end up visibly damaged.
And yeah I know Invictas are scorned by watch people. It's shiny. I like it. I'm not watch people. I also scorn golfing and yachting.
I wear sneakers with slacks. I don't care for your social norms. Good day sir.

Invicta was scorned for being Uber bling. And huge. But I digress.
FWIW, Eric Clapton collected watches since Heuer chronographs in the ‘60s, auctioned a Patek Philippe for over $2M and rotates his collection onstage and off stage normally.

Almost never, but I’ve occasionally worn a loose-fitting, lightweight titanium Citizen on stage when I’ve needed to keep track of set length. I don’t have that one anymore, but have another that’s taken its place and will probably see the stage eventually. It’s a titanium diver with an orange dial, which has some character.
The leader sometimes needs to keep track of time.

I do... A $16.00 Casio quartz analog watch that I wear upside-down so I can check the time while performing by glancing at my left hand. As bandleader it helps to insure that sets start and end on time. Also useful when I play at open mics and have a strict time limit. Those are the only times I wear one.

I have one nice watch that I bought 25 years ago, wear it all the time. I am another lefty playing righty, with the watch on my right wrist, never scratched an instrument that way.
