Does anyone care about strap color?

Hell yea bro. Definitely matters.

This made me wonder if people match their clothes they wear on stage, to their bass. I never once considered it in all the live playing I've ever done.
I've definitely done that (choose a bass to gig because it would look good with a shirt or vice versa). But not always.

As for straps, most of my straps are black; but I've had some colorful ones as well. Lately I'm kind of transitioning to all Mono Betty straps. All black, but I'm getting a gray one next week that I'm thinking will look good with my Blizzard Pearl Jazz.

Here are a couple of my "non-black" straps:

Well, this one's not ALL black!:

The bassist on a Caribbean cruise about 15 years ago had seven basses, all cheap 4-strings. Each one was a different color. Each had a matching strap. He had a tux with 7 bow ties and 7 cumberbunds, each matching a color of a bass. He was having fun but I'd always wondered if he spent his salary on instruments and colors. Looked very good though!

I wonder if the cruise ship asked him to do that....

I have a sister-in-law who works cruises during the summers. She says the entertainers have to 'sell themselves' as the cruise directors are too busy to do any research. So I'd guess the bassist did that on his own. The only others in the trio were a female vocalist/sax player and a pianist. The pianist had the colors on his tux also. Sax player dressed 'slinky' if you know what I mean!!!
