Does anyone cut their own hair?

Mrs Foal has cut my hair for the last 20 years
She does a great job especially as trained as an Arborist.

When she got into flower arranging school the styles got more creative.

For the past dozen years, I've been sporting the 'shaved head with a goatee' look. So, yes, I cut my own hair.

Twice a week is enough. I actually use my goatee/beard trimmer with no guard, and only rarely do I take a razor to my scalp.

Technically I still have a full head of hair, and my wife and friends wonder why I don't grow it out. Two reasons...first, it gets grayer every time I do let it grow out, and the second reason is once it gets to be about an inch or so, it seems to stop growing any longer, while sticking straight up. At that point I start looking like this guy...

And then I get the urge to shout, "More Cowbell!"

I was in my early forties when my hair got so thin that I started wearing a crew cut to avoid the dreaded comb-over. I had a barber do it every two weeks for a couple of years. In 2003 I got a promotion at work that had me working really crazy hours. I bought a 'Deluxe" set of Wahl clippers and started doing it myself. It was super easy, and I did it once a week.

By the time I was forty-nine in 2008, my hair had gotten so thin that even a crew cut was no longer flattering. I started shaving my head completely once a day. I've been retired since 2009, these days I shave my head every other day.

I answered no because I would probably do an horrible job doing it. If I want to save money and my hair are one of the items on the list to accomplish that, I will let them grow instead...

No. I've got a full head of great hair, with only a touch of white on the sides. I'll use thinning scissors to remove the bulk between cuts to spread out appointments with the hairdresser.

The beard is >70% white now so I shave that most days.

If we're honest, shaving my melon with an electric razor every 2 days isn't really cutting my own hair. It's more like mowing a lawn. But still, I do it myself

Yep. Been cutting my hair for the last 4-5 years now. I ain't got much left on top but the sides and back still grow so I trim it every couple of weeks. Better than paying $20 plus tip.

I'm pretty bald and my shoulder length days are long gone. A simple elec. clipper with a #3 guard is all I need. Takes about five minutes and doesn't cost a thing. Some times two weeks apart , sometimes two months. I just cut it when ever it gets annoying.

I use my beard trimmer on my sideburns and around my ears to I don't get too shaggy between cuts. I HATE bushy sideberns.
I have a very thin beard and it has gone from red to white. If I shave every three days it looks fine. Harry's razors rock!

I’ve been cutting my own hair for the past 15 years. I learned to embrace the buzz cut because my quickly retreating hairline and nicely growing bald spot didn’t leave me with too many options (without looking like a clown-in-training). I occasionally use a razor to change my look a bit, but usually I just hit it with the clippers on “0” every week or 2.

I don't but a buddy of mine uses the Flow Bee, an attachment fitted
to a vacuum. Yes, he's cheap & super conservative.

I bought a clipper / electric and do my own usually....some people say nice haircut
But my mother in law always looks at me and says...Oh you got a haircut...looks closer...Did you cut it yourself?

i often slip my hand and make a little bald patch on the side or back...ugh

Did it yesterday for the first time, as repair for a really horrible haircut. It's not at all what I want, but it's a whole lot better than what I had yesterday

I always have to trim my hair with scissors after a salon cut....fix it....they never get it right

except last week...but cost $30 plus $5 tip....Hmmm too pricey for my short hair

I've been cutting my own hair for about 25 years, mainly to save time, also to save money since a $25-40 haircut was no better than what I could do myself with an battery electric sheer and extension attachments. I do it in the stall before I take a shower, which makes cleanup very easy.

yes: with the flowbee, for almost 25+ years: my dad (now passed) used to tell me that you couldn't have both brains and hair --- he was balding, i've always had hair! --- so before he died he got me the flowbee thing and i haven't been in a hair joint since!

I have for about 20 years. It wasn't a money saving thing, per se. I just never found a stylist who would cut it the way I wanted, even with specific instructions (It's not that complex a haircut, I never understood why they couldn't do it). Well, as the saying goes, if you want something done right, do it yourself.

I change it up all the time. I get bored with certain looks.
