You came to the wrong support group sir. If you really want to keep a lid on it, you could force yourself to discuss all gear purchases with your spouse or significant other, but ultimately only you know what is reasonable for you. I have had a number of hobbies come and go over the years and playing bass is far from the most expensive thing a guy could spend money on. Also, when you spend on something like golf the money is gone. When you buy a bass, you have exchanged one asset for another and you can probably recover 60 to70% of the cost even if you buy new and sell used.

Ha.... My other hobbies are muscle cars and precious metal coins. Money really isn't a problem.... Well it's always an issue. If I would have had money in my working musician days I would have long since had it. Now that I am older and "rational" (ha)... It's hard to justify in my "mature" mind... Guitars... Old cars... Old coins... Yeah, that's mature isn't it??

I'm into fast cars and motorcycles too but basses are a little cheaper, safer and easier to play with at home...

The only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys. :)
