A guitarist friend of mine told me he never washes his hands (pre-covid) before going on stage, for the mojo. :vomit:
I find that washing your hands in hot or at least warm water before going on stage helps relax them a bit so your fingers move freely. So I usually do that right before going on stage for the first set. Didn't make much difference when I was touring in my early 20's but it really helps now that I'm a "senior citizen".;)

I don’t wash mine either. I hate the way my skin feels on the strings when my hands are wet.

I do carry hand sanitizer though. It takes care of the gross stuff and actually makes my hands drier.
