Okay, the thing is I shot the talking parts in December (and I'm only talking in the first 2 episodes, so there is no more of that whatsoever in the rest of the series) and I shot 2 angles - 1 straight on and 1 at the angle shown. I was going to cut back and forth between the two angles. I shot the straight on shots first and after I got the whole thing done, I watched the videos on the computer and saw how many times I messed up what I was saying (I suck at talking) in the straight on shots and I didn't want to have to re-shoot it, so I just deleted those shots and stuck with the other angle.
Okay, time for an update.
After I filed my fret tangs, I (2 weeks ago) cleaned up the taper of the neck and fretboard with the router and a straight edge... and the taper didn't go all the way to the end of the fretboard on either neck. So I went inside and checked the measurements on the full scale drawing and suddenly remembered that I drew the taper lines like 1/8 - 3/16" outside of the actual taper so I wouldn't cut inside the lines when I rough cut it on the bandsaw. I did the rough cut so long ago that I completely forgot about it and proobbbabbly should have sanded off those lines after I was done.
That being said, yesterday I re-filed the fret tangs and re-routed the taper, before fine sanding the fretboard. That was kinda annoying because I feel like I wasted the 2 previous days that I did those things. Oh well, though.
On the bright side, I didn't have to re-file all of the frets, I just took them and placed as many as I could further down the fretboard where they fit correctly, then cut 1 side of each of the leftovers and just filed that 1 side of them to get them all where they needed to be.
I'll post pictures later.

I think about it way too much and keep spreadsheets of what I've done and what I'm doing next. But, little things like that get left out sometimes.
Was it easy to find ziricote when you were in Belize?
Yeah. It is native in the region (rain forest areas there, Guatemala and other parts of Central America). When I visited, I had yet to delve into woodworking, much less guitar building. However, I do have a lovely toucan (national bird) that was hand carved by a nice fellow named Dave. There is an abundance of wonderful hand crafted items carved from ziricote down there. I am unsure of the laws regarding Belize and exotic wood, but I do know that they are keen on conservation--at least on the fisheries side of things.

I've been doing a little shopping in preparation of finding a house one of these days and thinking about some things I'll need. I got a few things for guitar building too. There were sales and "points" and stuff, so I got all of this for less than $50. The 3 mover's blankets actually cost the most.
And this for about $50.
Drill batteries are annoying, so I got a corded drill. That should help out on drilling jack holes! More power, I assume. Or at least not quickly losing power as the battery dies. It weighs about twice as much as our cordless, which I was surprised about, seeing as half the weight was the battery.
The hole reamer and Helping Hands should be nice to have for guitars too!
Back to the current stuff: frets!
I still have: beveling, end shaping, fretboard taping, leveling/crowning/sanding, side dots, and slot end filling to do. Hopefully all this weekend. Of course it's going to be in the 30's out. Boo.

Good call on the EVO gold wire. It really sets exotic dark wood off. And it is super-easy to work in both hammering in and crowning/finishing.
Yeah, I really like it. I think I've used it on all of my builds except the very first one.
It did put a couple of chips in the cutter of my new (overly expensive) nippers though, so that sucks.
Man, that ziricote looked good before the frets, but now... Wow.
Also, fwiw I have 2 corded drills, for most shop work I actually prefer them.
p.s. You should move to where it's warmer, you could build more.
I've been wanting a corded drill for a while. Now I had an excuse because I was going to need a drill of my own anyway.
I'm going to make sure to get a house that I can make a basement workshop in, so no worries about the weather anymore.
Now only if there were actually any decent houses available...

The katalox one needs the fret ends filed and a polishing with fret erasers. Then I have to sand down the epoxy fill and side dots on that one. Both necks still need the other side of the fret slots filled too.
I think one fretboard being done was enough for the video at least. I was hoping to get them both done so I can move onto neck shaping ASAP.
Next weekend is supposed to be really nice, so that will be a welcomed change from freezing myself while working on these today!

It's System Three T-88 epoxy with sawdust mixed in. I didn't really mix in enough sawdust for that one though. The downside of having the fretboards pre-radiused and slotted is not being able to save up much sawdust. I have a canister of black pigment that I wish I would have added to it.
