I did end up getting that 8 gallon compressor.
First tool stand complete:

I didn't use the top board that it came with. I had these boards that are bigger (and actual wood) and they seem to work great for this. This board already had finish on it because I was using it to hold my record player at my old house.
I got the second stand put together and put a coat of finish on.
These stands seem very solid, so I'm pretty happy.
In other news, the curtains in the basement are gone.

Haven't unboxed all my tools yet, so this may get changed up a bit. I feel like I'll need an entire section for fretting tools.
The tool stands and mobile bases are done now.
I tried to do things today...
The most accessible box when I walked in the room was the dust collector, so I thought I’d start there.
Pulled everything out of the box and looked at the directions and I can’t even complete the very first step (put the casters on the base) because there are 18 nuts missing.
So I put some stuff back in the box to make a tiny bit of room and dug my way to the back corner to get to the jointer so I could at least have an actual unboxed tool sitting on a tool stand. I need to put the fence and the dust port on, but everything else came pre-assembled. It has a spiral cutter head, which is pretty exciting.

Yeah, I hope so. I was planning on spending the majority of one of the days over the weekend on the shop, but then a pipe started spraying water into the basement Friday night and I had to have a plumber come out Saturday mid-day and it threw the whole thing off.
Everybody that owns a home needs a book like this. I know I had a few of them and used them with regularity when I first bought mine.

Mmmhmm. On the bright side, I now know where not to store my wood when I finally bring it over from my parent's house.
Looks like a good book. My problem ended up being tree roots growing in the waste line that caused pressure to build up, so I think calling a drain tech was unavoidable. Of course, he spotted a couple pipes that looked bad while he was there, so a plumber came to evaluate it (visually) yesterday for $90 before I realized that my home warranty covers pipes, but have to pay another $75 for one of their plumbers to come out to see if it qualifies for being covered and then they can send someone out again to actually fix it... I think I might need to sell a guitar soon... haha.

Had that on a shared waste pie with my neighbor. Both older houses so we paid half each. Better than paying it all myself.

I've had more than that here and haven't seen any complaints
Just did it once but they completely cleaned out everything. I think they put root killer in the ground too, down around the pipes. Went from both houses to the wye and did a good job. It was kinda expensive but since it lasted for as long as I was there it was a good expenditure.
Oh wow. All they did to mine was run something down the pipes to trim the roots back. Sounds like what they did to yours worked.
They ran a big thing with cutters down all of them then pumped root killer where they could. It worked for as long as I was there.
My workshop is a mess.
But I'm getting things assembled!
Okay, so this didn't actually have any assembly, but it is un-boxed and on a stand now. There is a knob and a dust port to put on.
Look at that rust. Yeah, I still haven't cleaned it, but I plan to when I clean the grease off the other tools.
And the one that has actual assembly involved: the dust collector.
There's about... 1 or 2 inches of clearance below the ceiling.
The assembly instructions were not clear, but I think I got it together right...
I'll start moving some big boxes out of the room next time I'm down there and get the knobs and stuff put on the planer and jointer and see what else I can get done.
