I think, because it's a brushless motor, and therefore has almost negligible rotating mass compared to a big heavy armature in a conventional motor, the kick is just totally removed to all intents and purposes. That kick is entirely down to a significant rotating mass being accelerated to tens of thousands of rippums in an instant. Remove the mass, remove the kick. I'll tell you more about the router itself tomorrow, let's just say it's a game changer. I have a whole weekend without work. Progress will be made.

Making the most of a rare long weekend without work, I have been refining the artwork for the top. I've decided to do this with custom printed vinyls, which I can then laquer over. If you can prepare your own print ready artwork, it's quite surprising how cheap these can be. I scanned a Lichtenstein print, split it up into color layers in photoshop using various selection tools to send each channel to its own layer, and then used various brushes and a Wacom tablet to kind of grunge up the black outlines. The plan is to apply the vinyl, and then airbrush the edges out in black like the edges of a burst, which will carry on round the edges. Then I'll two pack the whole thing and polish the bejeezless out of it. View attachment 4617192 There are still tweaks to be done. I'll order three of these vinyls. One for the body, and two to dress up the dual pickguards. I'll make the pickguards from 5/32 clear plexi, with the vinyls applied to the top and the reverse side sprayed gloss black to achieve a kind of trompe d'oeil effect. And again, I'll two pack over the vinyl and polish it out. I think that's a much nicer approach than Paul Weller's "Whaam!" 330, which just had clear plexi pickguards and you could see all the ugly guts of the guitar. Tomorrow is router day. I shall also be assigning stripper names to all of the thread regulars. It's going to be a smorgasbord of rare treats.

No, I won't show you until tomorrow because I want to show you two things at once and it will make sense, when you see it. Trust me on this. It's just how I want to do it.

Meanwhile, and I'm generally pretty easy going it's not very often I feel like I want to justify myself but...

Yesterday was Saturday. I worked 9 hours.

Today is Sunday, it's 3pm I've just got home from work.

Home to my 15 year old twins. I am 33. You do the math, and imagine what my life has been like as a single parent.

So, to the person whose name I don't even recall who decided to jump on my thread without even the courtesy of an introduction, to tell me to just "get on with it", I will simply say, GFY.

You have no place telling others to get a move on, simply because you are not entertained.

I of course still love you as a fellow musician, and technical enthusiast (aka nutter) and you are of course still welcome to comment but please bear in mind that we don't all live perfect lives. If it were that easy, we'd all be doing it.

I got home today, I attached templates to body wing blanks with serious quality double sided tape, and routed them to the correct shape. I also cut the scarff back on the neck, and I'll plane the whole surface flat tomorrow.

I also set up the router to cut for the truss rod, and then my kids got home, and I really like my kids. So I like to stop what I'm doing and ask them how their weekend was. I won't tell you what they did but I'm proud of them. And then I asked them what they would like to eat tonight.

We are having paella. Minus the seafood, I'm not made of money.

So, this is my workbench. And I think what's on it is a lot more important than a fancy piece of wood in a funny shape.

I always set everything out before I start cooking. I find it quite helpful. It's just how I learned to do things.
