I my Warwick Corvette $$ is tuned to DGCF which I usually down tune to CGCF.
My Ibanez 1045e on occasion is tuned AEADG.
My MIM Jazz is in standard, but has a d-tuner on it that I use frequently.
And at one time I had a Schecter that was tuned all the way down to G, to go along with my guitarist's 8 string guitars. We've since moved away from that though.

Me all day. I've preferred the lower tension of lowered tunings ever since the first time I joined a band that tuned to Eb.
My current band tunes mainly CGCF. My main Carvin LB70 handles the tuning just fine with medium gauge Boomers (.45 to .105). I tried heavier strings (.115s) on my backup Carvin, but I don't care for the higher tension.
I also recently got a short-scale Gibson Flying V bass, which is very interesting tuned down to CGCF... boom city.

Already in too many clubs, but the main band downtunes a half-step, and a tertiary project, does so, in places.

ACGCF. I don't like going all the way down to G for the low B, as sometimes we tune up to D standard so this is the best compromise.

I got another fiver to try yesterday and I immediately tuned it CGDAE which is an up tuning for a fiver. So now I feel like I am cheating on the down tuned club. 
But I am still in the club because all my fours are tuned CGDA and I will probably always have at least one of them.

Seems to me that you aren't up tuning a "low B" fiver, but instead de-tuning a "high C" fiver (except yours is tuned in 5ths, but you get the point).
My previous band tuned down a step and a half from standard (C#). I don't play much five-string, so I never really settled on whether to tune my 34" five down that low or just go up a step and have a high string.

It just depends on what's needed at the time, but I've done all of 'em!

We have a few tunes in drop B which I enjoy playing in but we don't play them live anymore. It's a fun tuning.

I play five string, tuned down a half-step (BbEbAbDbGb) in my hard rock band. Even on 34" scale it sounds fantastic, even down low on the B string (Sadowsky basses). I love playing modern rock songs that stay down in that range.

I use a short scale (30.5") Gibson Flying V bass tuned to drop C (CGCF) for a song or two in my band's current set, so yes... drop D would be a piece of cake. I probably prefer lower string tension than most, but I find that the bass sounds great with standard gauge strings in dropped D or D-standard (DCGF). However, I admit that I would prefer a bit more tension when the low string goes down to C, even using a larger gauge string (110), so I'm keeping an eye out for string options.

Actually the thing that drove me to try the fiver again was that I had two fours, one tuned CGDA and the other tuned GDAE. The first is what I use for my normal work, the second I tried as a lark and then realized the higher tuning was nicer for chords, a skill I am trying to develop. Then it hit me that I could have both on one neck with a fiver....
So I tend to think of it as a double neck four string where the necks have moved so close together as to merge. Looking at it that way one of the necks is still down tuned.
Any way you slice it the result has more range than a six string!Ken
I currently have 3 basses in E standard with Hipshots for drop D, 3 tuned 1/2 down in Eb standard, and 3 BEADG 5ers - oh, and an AEB in E standard... In my current main band, I typically play 4-5 songs in drop D, around 10 in Eb standard, around 10 in E standard, and cover the rest on a 5er - which includes D, C#, C, and B... I also play in a side project band that plays everything in Eb standard, or Eb drop C#...
