I've seen a few "no chicks need reply" ads, but this is the first time I've seen a woman (if the included photo is really of the poster) specifically say she wants to work with dudes:

hi , im a drummer putting togeather a new type of band using keys in place of horns ,.. thers a band id like you yoo check out called california tansit authroity or CTA on you tube or there web site. its a spin off from the band chicago from the 70s ,,there leader drummer put this band togeather using a synth ,hammand b3,guitar ,bass,drums and a singer which is the original lead singer for tower of power . the sound is up lifting and can do so many different bands tunes with this combination of players . we could add a female singer too ,. but the change from doing the same oldss would be a benifit too this area . check it out let me know what you think and if you feel thers potenual in challlanging yourself too new things then let me know , here at [email protected] ,, togeather with feel and dynamics bringing back the music that kept us a live is my intentions of a payback for giviing me the years i have had performing music that has been a gift like we all have and a previlige too play ,. thanks alot

I'm watching Foo Fighters: Back and Forth right now and I too want a meteoric rise to fame culminating in a two-night engagement at Wembley Stadium. Not really...

I play guitar, and bass and drums (but that's problematic, because I sold my kit years ago)

I was in my first band when I was 13 and we played two Ramones songs. The school talent show committee kicked us off the bill because we were obnoxious.

My second band was a hodge-podge of Smiths, Hendrix and Nirvana covers. We were kicked out of a school dance because we were obnoxious.

My third band was me all by my lonesome recording punk songs on my Tascam four-track (I'm old), with my best friend Chris singing about using the toilet. We were called The Go Pottiers.

My fourth band was awesome. I was in college, and we were good. We played a show with Gravity Kills once and blew them out of the water. This was in Omaha right after 311 became famous and right before Cursive became famous. We had A&R guys all over the place, because Omaha was going to be the next Seattle. It wasn't.

Then I got a job and a wife and a mortgage and we had kids and I stopped playing with other people for awhile. Not long ago I was in what was basically a quasi-Iron Maiden tribute band where I really actually bothered to hone my skills. That ended up not working out after awhile because everyone else took it entirely too seriously. When you start squabbling over not getting $50 from a gig at Muldoon's, then it's time to rethink your priorities. Right now my playing is limited to me coming home from work, taking off my pants, and playing Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love in the living room. I've been doing that for so long that I'm pretty sure my dogs could play the solo if I handed them my guitar.

So, I have a buncha guitars and a rig, and I have a lot of experience lugging **** around to crappy bars to play in front of no people for no pay.

My influences are all over the place: Bad Religion, Fugazi, 7 Seconds, NoFX, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Crue, Van Halen - and I love Brian Setzer.

I'd like to start something reminiscent of the DC hardcore scene from the 80s. I have no intention of doing anything other than rehearsing and playing an occasional show here and there

If you have something going on that's loud and annoying, or you think any of this horsepoopie is up your alley, let me know.

Here is a modest CL post that speaks the truth, this is actually whats going on out there:

Hired Gun vs. Band Member (Everywhere)

I noticed that most of the people on here that are looking for a "permanent band member" really are looking for a "HIRED GUN". They would never admit it, but it's true. They want a "hired gun" for FREE. And it makes me mad.

Why should anyone learn however many of your songs, make it sound exactly as you want it to sound, look exactly how you want them to look and perform exactly how you want them to perform, show up to the show at whatever club in whatever city, pay for parking and gas, spend money on drum heads, bass strings, guitar strings...bring back up instruments and people out to your show......and at the same time have no input whatsoever?

A lot of the times the "band members" are not even on the "bands" flyers or are introduced to the audience!

It's YOUR project, YOU write and record it all, YOU say what is being done and when and how, etc etc etc, and that's all fine, cause it's YOUR project, but please....it's NOT a band situation.

More and more people do their own thing now by themselves and think they got it all figured out and they want employees who do as they're told. Very well, but then
PAY for the services you NEED and stop trying to get great players for free by disguising it as "being a band", "vibing" and "jamming" and "first audition", "second audition" and whatever the f....

My fellow musicians, let me tell you something: you are professional, got good gear, skills, transportation, a look, show up to practice and shows and know your songs and got all the other things everyone requests and expects from you.....you should be paid. Yep, you're worth it.

Say NO, don't be a slave, don't be a tool.

CHARGE for your services; they need you. Because think about it..who is so desperate as to give in and be used like that?

BEGINNERS. People just dying to play a show, amateur level musicians with crappy or mediocre gear, players that need 5 weeks for 4 songs and still don't have them down and show up late for rehearsals and whatever etc...

So...if someone thinks, no, you are not worth a little compensation for your time, work and what not, say NO and let them go play with amateurs.

Let them see how that sounds.

here it is. I want a musician partner. I have always wanted a musical partner because the feelings I get from both are so alike I can only imagine what the two together would be like. I am a bass player. Finger bass. Studied under Paul McCartney. I also have the means fo make videos and post them on youtube. It would be more about the music than the the girlfriend. Just hang out jam, record some tracks, see what happens.

You'll notice, he doesn't say what he studied under Paul McCartney, nor which Paul McCartney. Perhaps he lived in a flat a floor below that of Paul McCartney when they were children, and thus did his studying under Paul McCartney. This doesn't make the ad writer a lier, per se, only willfully deceptive. Oh, wait, that's lying...
