Dump your Cell phone

They always had the means of listening to you, and always will unless you communicate in winks. Post can be intercepted, wires tapped, your credit cards used for your porno subscriptions, you name it.

The big question is why would they care? What are you up to that would get their attention? Why you? Why are you so important?

Chill man.

I'd love to dump my cell, but it keeps ringing! And every time I pick it up it's the same thing: "Hey, you available next week for a session? Hey what are you rates for live shows? Hey we need a sub tomorrow, gig pays $- - - , can you do it?"

Yep, looks like I'll be keeping mine.

BTW, go Fender! Go Lakland! Go Ampeg!
+1
I don't have a long enough spiral cord to drag behind me in my truck. I use mine for my mobile truck repair business. It's a must have item. Plus I just responded to this post from it.

In Massachusetts? You must be getting a lot of out-of-town gigs! :D

1) Exactly what kinds of subversive things are you into that you have anything to fear? Why are YOU interesting to the government that you're someone who should be spied on rather than the other 299,999,999 other Americans?

2) If this is the policy for top secret meetings, how do you know this? What is YOUR clearance level that you know about policies for top secret meetings? And since you've clearly had a security clearance at some point, you'd know that acknowledging anything, such as you did with this information leak, is a breach in the responsibilities you agreed to accept in order to safeguard such information.

3) You learned this where? If you're passing along such important information you'd do us all a HUGE favor by pointing us to the documentation you found so we can read it for ourselves.

4) Exactly how is this is relevant to the BASSES forum?

You need to consider the silliness of the nonsense you wasted your time typing...

:eyebrow:

1) Nobody and nothing significant. It's a civil liberties issue.

2) I read about it in an article about cell phones. Have to take the journalist's word about it. But I also read in another source that Congressional leaders do the same thing when they are having meetings when security is an issue.

3) It's been common knowledge for about 10 years. It's the wonders of digital equipment. Everything digital has an ID number... that's how it is accessed. It's like a port in your computer... a door with a lock... if you have the key you can open it.

4) You didn't read the original post very well. It's all about the expense of the damn thing. Look at all the gear you could purchase with the money you waste on a toy you don't need.

Keep your phone if you like. I don't care. I just thought I'd bring it up cause a lot of people just follow the leader. You see it here in the forums. If it isn't Ampeg or GK or any other "approved by the masses" piece of gear, it must be inferior. Media brainwashing... buy the brand name. I once knew a guy who wouldn't drink a beer unless it had a shinny gold or silver label. It looked better. It's beer... it get's you drunk and then you drool. How pretty is that?

I find the OP's post quite ironic (and extremely off topic, but I'll bite because I'm that bored)

OP...ever heard of an IP Address?

They're already onto you :ninja:

No sh*t!

You were issued a birth certificate, I'm assuming? You have dental and doctor records? I'm also assuming a state issued driver's license? Tax Records? Purchased items in your lifetime, probably with credit cards? Have a checking account?

Big brother already knows all about you.

And cell phones help you contact other voices than the ones in your head. ;)

Chill out dude. Chill.

You didn't read the original post very well. It's all about the expense of the damn thing. Look at all the gear you could purchase with the money you waste on a toy you don't need.

You are well wrong with your figures there. I am on a £20 per month contract with 500 minutes talk time, unlimited texts and 5MG limited 3G internet. I got a free handset worth £370 as well. That sort of deal is mega common here in the UK so I am not sure if it is more expensive in America or you just pulled your figures out of... ahem... thin air.:smug:

yeah, cause the money i use on a cell phone could just buy me all my dream gear....

i think you should be saying "dump the texting", cause that is the only thing about cell phones that are rediculous. don't do it, never felt a need too and i find it annoying hearing the clicks of a million little keys a second.. also, alot of ignorant little people seem to think whether you text or not deciphers how many friends you have.

but if you are broken down in the middle of nowhere, why the hell would you be worrying about the what the government is doing? seriously?? give me a break..

Now there is another reason to dump your cell phone. "Big Brother." Here's a great conspiracy in the world of conspiracy theories. Did you know that your cell phone is a surveillance device? Punch in a code from a remote location and someone can turn on the microphone to your cell phone and listen to anyone in ear shot. And the phone doesn't even need to be on for this to work. The camera can be turned on in the same way as well. The only way to prevent it is too remove the battery. Protocol in top secret government meetings for cell phones is none are allowed without the batteries being removed.

Eagle Eye, anyone? (good movie...)

HookerRoad - by chance ... have you been reading Catcher in the Rye lately and/or feeling compelled to buy a new copy every time you walk past a book store?

:hiding:

if you're not posting to TB on a computer at the library - why are you wasting your money on a computer and internet when you could save your money and use the one at a library for free. think of how much you're going to save this year by offing your computer and internet services

all the best,

R

Perhaps I should have left the conspiracy thing out... it's all that you all are focusing on. I just thought it would be fun to interject that.

The real issue is the money wasted on a silly toy that you don't need.

i need mine for work. i need my landline for the security system for the house.

as for the big brother / conspiracy thing, i don't know how surprised you'd be at the amount of information i just found out about you with a quick search.

the digital age can be scary.
