Dunwich Amplification General Discussion

This isn't the Dunwich ODB, this is a new Dunwich Designed DIY based on the Boss ODB-3. I think the ODB is loosely based on the OCD?

Derp. Maybe if I'd looked at the controls I could have figured it out. Maybe not. I'm slow. Either way, I have a Bass Overdriver that I will never let go, so... I've got that goin' for me.
 
I really miss my ODB. Maybe I'll have to build one of these. However, the lack of a skull must alter the sound a bit. I'd definitely have to have a skull on there.

Just remembering when I was first turned onto Dunwich… it’s interesting to me, that to this day, the the VT and ODB still rule the dirt section of my board.


If you stop and think about it, who else has had a focus on bottom end preservation since? It really explains why they fetch stupid money. It's a pretty underserved market. I've been trying to keep my eye on the pulse of things and the only other guys I am seeing making stuff w a bass focus are Broughton Audio, Fuzzrocious, Damnation Audio, and Bardic Audio. I haven't tried any Bardic yet but I have tried a ton of Broughton and we all know about the MBD-1/2 and Fuzzrocious.

my dunwich pcbs are due to arrived today, so there's going to be a lot of building going on this week.

You are probably going to beat the first build to the punch on the CTG so if you need to discuss that build let me know. For example, Q1 has that bias trimmer on it. You need to bias it so that your get balanced output signals on the Drain and Source. Effectively, the input stage is used to create a differential output to align phase of the 3 signals going out the 3 circuits. Let me know when you get there if there are issues. Typically Drain would be at VCC*0.667 and source would be at VCC*0.3333 but in this design that stage uses a bipolar supply so Drain is now (VCC+ - VCC-)*(0.667) and Drain is now (VCC+ - VCC-)*(0.333).
