They aren't. I just got mine for $300. I'd say anything in the $300-400 range is fair.

Does anyone know how many 125B Volt Throwers were made? Im hoping to get one from another member here. I briefly had a 1590BB clone from Johnk but didn't bond with it. Im told the 125B version is more distorted & synthy, can any of you who have tried both attest to that?
30-40 is my guess but only @dunwichamps knows. The 125b has a darker sound in comparison to the 1590bb. I would not say it is synthy or synthier than the 1590bb at all.

Not even remotely true. The 125 VT is a three or more trick pony. The range is exceptional. Everywhere from (my favorite) basic clean EQ boost. Great pre amp driver for the chain. Sparkly tasteful distortion break up. Not low end retention or synthy by any stretch.
I believe 50 125B Volt Throwers exist but please correct me if I'm wrong.
I had a 1590BB VT and still have a 125B. They were extremely similar and could be made to sound just about identical. I would also not describe them as synthy at their core, definitely sparkly and crisp though. They do have a lot on gain on tap and will both get fuzzy.

Tyrant on Reverb. No affiliation. It's the best HM-2 variant in my opinion.

Couple sweeties that have always worked well for me.
I've used the VT more because I love how well it works as a clean EQ boost and the distortion is nice and sparkly.
The Wizard gets dirty. Little noisy but definitely acceptable. It's one of the first run of 10.

Nice. The WF125b is a little beast. I still have mine from the first run, plus a backup
