East Tennessee Talkbass

What is everyone up to as we come on fast to summer 2022? Who's gigging? Anyone get new gear lately?

We should talk up a GTG this summer. It's been YEARS since the last one. We could do a gear GTG or just go see a performance of one of our own.

If any of you know fellow east Tennessee bass players here on Talkbass.. invite them to join us here.

I'm playing at Tn Tap House (Parkside Drive, Knoxville) 5/20, and at the Wild Boar in Powell on 5/21.

I'll be building a bunch of basses soon... much wood in transit to me... so, I may have stuff to bring if there's a GTG. I also always have new (used) gear: Rickenbacker, Serek, Ashdown tube amp, my '89 Pedulla MVP, etc etc etc

Y'all let me know if there's a piece of kit in London you need checked out. :bassist:

My student visa won't allow me to perform outside of school-sponsored gigs, but I'll post a gig report when they let me do anything cool.

Hi fellow ETTB brethren!

I have a Crown lead sled I'm basically giving away to anyone who buys a six space SKB rolling rack. I don't HAVE to sell it, but Mrs. Roller wants some of this stuff gone, and I can't blame her. Gigs are fewer and fewer and I have enough stuff to outfit an army of bass players. Would love to unload any of this locally?

Just now saw your Blind Frog gig pics from last Thursday, Jeff. The weather gets rough up there! How'd it go?

Wasn't there a venue/watering hole in Maryville called The Blind Frog? I remember it was at the corner of Broadway and Hall Rd. It was torn down what, 5-6 years ago?

Is CKB playing this holiday weekend? (I bet you are!) Anybody else have gigs this weekend?

We didn’t know it. Drummer suggested it. I’d never heard it before, but I love the bassline. The people seem to dig it, and my wife knew the song well and likes it when we play it.

Enjoyed it JJ! Love that Pedulla also! That thing just plays so well. Is that your number one still? With so many you are building, I would imagine the Pedulla is hat to beat sonically and as far as playability.

Yeah, I wanted a Pedulla MVP for so long, it’s hard not to play it at every show. I’ve got many that sound as good, or even better, for certain songs. But, I’m just so happy to have it, that I always take it.

As for building, I don’t know if I’ll ever be one of those builders that only plays their own basses. I get inspired by what others do and have done… plus I’m just a beginner and can’t compare to the masters yet. Also, doesn’t food taste better when someone else does all the work, haha!
