I had been meaning to post here in the ETTB thread for most of this week, just to keep it rolling this month, and Code911 beat me to it! So here I'm posting three times in a row!
I wanted to ask everyone your preference and thoughts on an ETTB 2012 get-together. We've been talking about this for quite some time, and we need to get rolling if we want to do one before summer gets here.
I think there are three options, and if anyone can think of something else that would work, please mention it.
1) GTG at someone's house, church, or business, everyone brings gear and talks shop. The usual TB way of doing a GTG, but probably also the most work, and someone has to host it, or come up with a place.
2) GTG at one of our bands' gigs - hang out, drink a few, maybe set in for a song if the other band members are agreeable. Easier than (1), but the gig date needs to be known a month or so out so we have time to get the word out to everyone. Normally, just mentioning the gig here isn't enough to make it happen. We have to say, THIS is when we are doing the GTG, and then people can commit to coming out.
3) GTG at a local brewery (there are several in Knoxville and the area), hoist a few, and talk shop and get acquainted. This is maybe the easiest thing to do because we can set a date and publicize it without it having to be tied to a band date. But there would be no gear there, and so it's probably more like a social event than anything. Which is still cool, because between good beer and us being bass players, there will never be a lack of things to talk about.
Since we are loosely defining ETTB as TB members within an hour and a half of Knoxville or so, it would make sense to do a 2012 GTG either in Knoxville or in the Knoxville area.
