Before I turn in tonight, I will also mention that, on Thursday night, I went to hear the band Invalid Link Removed at Quaker Steak and Lube, at the I-75 Merchants Road exit 108.

Wow! I had heard about Cheri Spinnazola in years past, but hadn't heard her perform. That girl can sing! This is a terrific cover band that reminds me of the good old days of the 80's, when bands of this caliber were working six nights a week, and the bass players were making almost a grand a week. Three of this band were all in that scene. That old working-class, top-notch kind of band from that era, with talented musicians and a very sexy, top-notch female vocalist. It was so deja-vu for me, in the best sort of way.

Eric Dockery is their bass player, and he's solid. They play some very non-standard cover tunes. I heard them play a couple of Montrose tunes from the first album, some Mother's Finest, and even the Focus tune- "Hocus Pocus". Very adventuresome, and they pulled them off.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I did my part to try to vanquish a foot of sub from the table. I may have eaten a few extra cookies by mistake in the process.

That was great fun and much appreciate the efforts of all attending. It makes the whole online experience that much more enjoyable when you get to meet and hang out with some of the members face to face.

P.S. Oh, and the jam idea was a GREAT one.

I wish that I could have been there. I have been playing bass for about 2 years, and I was really looking forward to the GTG. I missed because I had an audition the next day, but the good news is that I did well in the audition. For sure I will be at the next ETTB GTG.

Is there anyone in ET who plays modern worship music at his/her church? I would like to talk to someone about styles. I hear so much that is nothing more than 8th notes on the root of the chord.

There is a more or less chronic problem with earlier WT-800's, including in one I had, involving a couple power resistors that can't get rid of the heat they generate. Eventually it crystalizes the solder where it is connected and the amp cuts out or bangs or does other crazy stuff because the connection has become flaky or non-existent. It was so common there are quite a few threads around the internet about it. Later designs corrected the problem. If that is your trouble it is an easy fix and they should have you up and running in no time.

Hey smc bass!! I play in my church every week. We play a lot of stuff from Chris Tomlin, Kristian Stanfill, Casting Crowns, Third Day, etc. etc. We play Contemporary music, full band (bass, drums, acoustic guitars, electric guitar, keys, several vocalists).

Hi Guys, do to some health issues, our drummer will be leaving the band. So we are on the hunt for another drummer. If you know of anyone in the Knox/Maryville area who's a good drummer that likes to play classic rock, old, new country and some blues have them get a hold of me.

I don't mean to be picky but technically a 7/8 double bass would be a 14/8 bass. Reduced to its lowest denominator that would be a 7/4 bass.

The point is that your 3/2 double bass is better than a single bass which would be 1.5/1. So you are 1.5 better than the average bass player.
