i find that the wait staff usually tries to cram you into as small a space as possible if alone.....since i like to spread out the paper, and enjoy the meal alone i try to avoid the busier times.....alone time outside of home is hard to find these days, and the ability to be alone without being lonely is great.....every minute of every day does not need to be filled with gab...I've been alone for years. Eating alone in public? Fact is just today I ate in a restaurant for the first time in about 6 months. (I very seldom dine out). And of course I was alone.
Did it bother me? Should it have? Seriously, I never gave it a thought.
I do it all the time. I usually won't hit up a real fancy place by myself, because I like to enjoy that with others. Eating alone doesn't bother me. When I have to eat, I have to eat.
Doesn't bother me in the slightest. That being said though, if I am dining alone in public I want to be LEFT alone. I can't stand it when people bother me in the middle of a meal.
