EB Stingray 5 with Darkglass Tone Capsule

Hi,
Has anyone installed a Dark Glass Tone Capsule in a stock EBMM Stingray 5 running at 9 volts?, opinions. I put one in my Stingray Classic 5 and I think it really needs 18 volts. Just wanted opinions before I research routing another battery box.

I did indeed. Tone Capsules run just fine on either 9 or 18 volts. The BFR runs on 18v. I also have one in a MIM Fender Dimension, running on 9v. Both perform admirably well. There's quite a discussion in various forums with people weighing in and not liking the strident or harsh tone of the 3-band oem preamp. That's why I changed mine. I am also working on a circuit design that will improve the tone of the three-band.

Hey thanks for the info. Just seems to ne that for mine it would really benefit from upgrading to 18 volt, but I really don;t want to route another battery box in this bass. Thanks again..

I have the DGTC at 9V running in this bass.

My first experience with the DGTC was with a Dingwall NG3. I really like its take on a bass onboard preamp. When this bass came up for sale and I found out it had the DGTC, I was sold. 9V works just fine.

I'd be interested to hear how the DGTC sounds on a Stingray. I bet it's great.

Wow, that’s cool. I’ve always wanted to try a Coda. The DGTC is great with the Stingray, just deciding if I need to bump to 18 volts. But that DGTC brings out some extra character in the Stingray. Was maybe considering a trade though. It’s a heavy Stingray, Classic 5 one of the few GC editions with an active/passive function, and DGTC pre, big and transparent sounding. Thanks for sharing.
