Ebay Restricted item?

It’s maybe a good way to “sell” a bass to someone overseas at a higher price if you know someone overseas.

Buyer gave $100, gets $100 back. Net even. Seller sends a bass, gets $100 back. Net even for the seller. The intermediary now has an item valued at $100 that they need to sell for $100 to be even.

I'll happily take that Ric off their hands for $100.

Talk to eBay and the seller first to figure out what's going on as best as you can. But have this option as backup.

I have a theory ...the bass is a 2017 Rickenbacker ... maybe ebay thought I was selling a new bass to someone in Europe ... This violates Rickenbacker policy ... only European dealers can sell new Rics in Europe ...

But the rub is it is a used bass ... but I did leave the warranty registration card in the case ... but since I converted it into a 5 string bass there is no longer any warranty ...

Well, depending on the contracts there might be cause for complaint. It's complicated, and I'm not a lawyer, but they might be in breach of contract. Suppose that you sold a bass to Jeff Scott and hired me to deliver it to him; I would break the contract if I took the bass for myself and just gave him the sum he had paid you. Now, the situation with eBay is likely much more complex, but you might have a case if they don't have a good reason for not shipping the item to the buyer. Maybe.

The bottom line is I should be able to sell a used Rickenbacker bass on ebay to a guy in England and it should ship

Kentucky is where their Global Shipping Center is. This also happened to me. You will NOT get it back. I imagine that they sell it either to a liquidator or have an auction of unshipped items. I think it is pretty stupid. They could return it to you and refund the buyer, or at least give you the option. It's got to be costing them a lot of $$$ doing it the way they do.

I don't ship overseas ... but technically the Global Shipping Center is in the USA

Understood.... but make sure you UNCHECK the box that says (Allow eBay to ship overseas for you). It's clicked ON by default. I don't care what they offer-- I'm selling in the U.S. ONLY. Even then sometimes buyers cause problems, at least it won't be overseas.

This one TB member told me not to buy the five string converted Rics because the string spacing is made to small.
He even PMed me with this huge warning. I can't remember his name but I think he was a huge Lemmy fan and was selling me on the 4004, which I thought was strange since Lemmy didn't use a 4004.
