The 5 string Rics do have a tight spacing ...
factory 4003s5 2 1/8" or 2 1/16"
my modded 4003 4-2-5 ... 2 5/16"
my modded 4004 2 1/2"
So if you want a 2 3/4" or a full 3" that is not the bass for you
And yes Lemmy did play a 4004

Yet another alternate theory: they broke the bass during handling and paying everyone off is the easiest way to deal with it.

It's not like RIC made a signature 4004 for Lemmy or something like that...

Well this is the definitive proof that TB has been waiting for: TONEWOOD MATTERS!
Of course it's expensive but worth it because we are saving the world here. Everyone knows that the way to save endangered species, is confiscate all current products using them and then cremate them and then properly dispose of the ashes down an active volcano. Properly destroying all previously manufactured items using the material is obviously the ONLY way to reduce world wide demand for these endangered products.
Our flag must be a tribute to that. The box I found it in says "Old UNITED States Flag".
You probably need to complete and submit a permit to export the instrument, this is a requirement of CITES.

I remember how excited we were when we became part of the UNITED States. We became the 49th star. Then Hawaii became the 50th star. Then I served in the UNITED States Army Southeast Asia. Who would have thought that shipping in the manufacturer's box would be the problem ...
Of course. Everyone knows FRAGILE is Italian for leg lamp. eBay is NOT gonna ship one of those.
Jeff, why won't ebay give you the option of having the bass returned to you?
This is probably at least a part of why certain manufacturers have restrictions on certain product shipping/being sold outside the US by domestic vendors. Different carriers have different policies and the boxes meant for shipping likely need to be labeled accordingly.
