Will Musicman will be producing more of these gems? I got my hands on a Sterling short scale last september and fell in absolute love... I have a 2008 MM stingray that I absolutely adore but at 54, my hands are starting to show fatigue and pain after close to 40 years of bass playing, so the short scale is a blessing.

There may be a few of the Tim Commerford models still available at stores. They look very cool. I expect Musicman will release another small batch of other short scales sometime this year. There seems to be a reasonable market for them. I love mine

I expect they will produce more either small limited numbers and colours in Their Vault or higher volumes 300-400 thru the worldwide retailers. They have the tooling and sell out every time so seems to be a no brainer to me. If we spot them, we'll shout! ... or keep and eye out for a used one

They play like a dream and sound just as good !

I'm sure it does! I'm at a point where I can't even play my EBMM and always go to my stingray short scale: great for my hands and it sounds very good (and is sooooo lightweight). Waiting for the next step!

If anyone is interested, I'm about to post this beauty for sale. My right hand has never really gotten along with the classic MM pickup position. I fell in love with this as soon as MM announced it, and grabbed one (of the 5) up. It's next to zero playing time. Essentially brand spanking new.

Has anyone seen one of the Bombshell models from the Ball Family Reserves? It looks as if they sold out in a few days. They aren't even listed in the Vault anymore. They had been there the day the bass was released.

Tell us about the active TC. Do you find the preamp important/ necessary? you said you regret selling the Starry Night and bought a Bombshell. Do the passive lack something that makes a Stingray a Stingray in your estimate?

I'd say that the preamp certainly provides more control over the sound, and the passive electronics differed enough to make it a different instrument. I also really like the thumbrest and mute additions on the TC model, but purchased a nordy mute to use when the bombshell arrives. The string through body also allowed me to use some medium scale Thomastik jazz strings which i really enjoy on my TC. I wouldn't necessarily say that the active electronics are "better", but definitely more true Stingray in my humble opinion. In any case, both are wonderful instruments, but I miss the beautiful finish on my Starry Night!

keep watching. There were two in the classifieds a couple of weeks ago. Occasionally one shows up on Reverb too.
I LOVE mine and it is going nowhere
