Yeah, I didn't pay attention to factory settings until I did a reset to try them. I still tweeked them a bit but I pretty much had to abandon them in pup height

Nice look. I wouldnt mind one like that with a rosewood board .
Rosewood would be my usual preference also but I don’t find this bass overly bright like I would expect from a maple board stingray. I had a special 4HH previously and that was much brighter. I usually run my 5H in series so that tones down the high end a little.

Most in this thread know how big a tort fan I am, but I usually prefer black on a natural finish. So I have no doubt the black will look fantastic on it (post it when you get a chance!
).However, that specific brown tort with that specific gold/yellow in it is exactly the kind of tort looks equally fantastic on a natural. Actually, my Vintage Tobacco Burst has very similar tort guard on it. Maybe that's why I like this one so much?

That's a beauty collection for sure but you may have too many. Ship one off for scientific experiments to my "lab". (Ok, I don't have a lab but I'd raise one for you all the same).
I use position number 3 almost always. I find all the positions useful but #3 and #5 are my favorites. Number 3 gives much more bottom end than the other positions for me.....especially when palm muting.
I would grab a Sabre 5 with extreme prejudice! Especially if it had the pre-EB electronics pkg!
I can join now! Picked up a used Slugger. This thing is so light, sounds so good, and feel effortless to play.
If I had to say something negative about Stingray 5's, it's that the pickguards cover SO much of the bass. Since I love bursts and both of my SR's are bursts, a lot of those beautiful finishes get hidden.
I love the look of a guard-less SR5 and that the Slugger lets the beauty of all that natural finish be seen and enjoyed.

That's precisely what drew me to it! I feel the same way about my older Stingray4: super cool sparkly finish that's 80% covered up by a pickguard. It's a nice PG, but still.
You mentioned it's lightweight. Do you know what it weighs? My SR Special 5HH is 8.3 pounds, which makes such a big difference on a four hour gig compared to my 9.5 pound ceramic SR5HH and my 10 to 10.5 pound L-2500.
I wonder if any Stingray Specials, especially a 5HH, have gotten under the 8 pound threshold?

I only have an old anaolgue bathroom scale that really isn't precise enough for what we're both curious about. (They didn't say the weight in the ebay ad)
