Dude, my first was a Stealth and I'm absolutely hooked on the black poles now.I would love to have blacked-out magnets on my SR5SHH. I love the way that looks.

That control plate design and the bridge... Take off the pickguard and you almost have yourself a G&L L-2000View attachment 4926572

My desire was for also for Sabre , Caprice , Short Scale StingRay, and Special 5 with mutes.Man I'd love a 5 string Sabre

Lobster does an excellent job of comparing the reissue ( I believe) to his Special HH on his channel.I see nothing wrong with desiring any or all of those basses, or any other Musicman bass.
What did the Sabre sound like? Did it use pickups (and probalby a mathcing preamp, too) from another bass model or was it its own thing? I could be completely wrong, but I have the impression it sounded like a Sterling. I can't say why I have that impression, though.
No , not at all like a Sterling. A lot like the Special HH , or if there was an original 2band HH with mutes, but with some different sounds due to switching options and different pickup placement.I see nothing wrong with desiring any or all of those basses, or any other Musicman bass.

Ive had the same experience with stings . All of my basses have very light gauge strings. TI Flats ruined me . I can no longer play 45-130. Everything is 40-125. The notes really sing and it feels just right. No more fighting the bass. They wear TI Flats, TI Rounds, Ernie Ball Super Slinky Rounds, and Super Slinky Custom Light ( Cobalt) Flats.

Excellent philosophy. Stay strong. We are here for support.Well, I dunno what happened...I ordered a weekend getaway for the family, and this is what they sent me->

Normally, I'd be reaaalllly mad that someone screwed up my order. Fortunately, my new meditation technique is very effective, and I'm actually not upset at all. I'll consider writing a sternly worded letter, but I'm learning to live with mistakes I can't control...![]()
Beautiful - body and neck! She just arrived yesterday and is in excellent shape! Just set er up with a set of SIT foundations and performed a quick neck and bridge setup and she is sittin' pretty! Such beautiful grain on this example! I have some big plans for this one...

Which Foundations, SS or Nickel? I tried Power Nickels on my ceramic SR5HH a long time ago and remember liking the sound (don’t remember how they felt though). They’re the only S.I.T.’s that I’ve ever tried but I have a good impression of them.

What a beauty-- Congrats!
Can't imagine what one could possibly do to improve upon a StingRay Special, aside from favored strings and a set of Dunlop strap locks
Looking forward to your project!
