Maybe some can. But my dad is 95 now and has never been able to turn it off so, for better or worse, I think I see my future.
I had told myself that if I got this one, I’d need to sell my other stingray special since I have too many basses already, but I’m not sure I can go through with thatWouldn’t trade my current Stingrays for anything but, wow, I’d love to have blocks and binding on at least one of them.

It looks great with the black guard as well but I think with the sparkle finishes it works better to not let things get too 'busy' visually - the less distraction from the gorgeous sparkle, the better! All good.
Don’t do it. You’ll regret it. And it will be most costly to replace it in the long run.
Let go of something else if you just have to.
As a StingRay5 Special has really become my sound, I found that having the H, HH, and Fretless configurations has been so beneficial for me. Especially since my H and HH are made of different body and fretboard woods. It makes a big difference. And they each bring something useful and different to the table .
It actually helps me cover a lot basses with just a few instruments.
If I didn't have good reason not to sell it, I wouldn't. It's easier to change your mind later if you keep it then it would be to change your mind after you sold it.

I'm going to pile on, too: don't sell! I sold one stingray years ago and I still pine for that beauty. I've bought others, but it will never be the same.

If it's a 2008, the fretless should have the Stingray alnico pickups and a 5 string version of the Stingray preamp. How does the sound compare to the new pickups in the Special?
I have a 2007 with the preamp and the ceramic pickups from the Sterling 5 in addition to my SR Special and I really like having two Stingrays with different characters. I've toyed with the idea of someday getting an SR5 from the 2008 to 2017 era, whether HH or HS, to add to my collection as long as it has the alnico pickups have a different enough character than my current two SR's.

Not sure it’s it appropriate to post here but we were talking about 5 string a few pages back. The Music Man vault just dropped 2 5 string StingRays. A gold and a purple. I’m loving the purple one.

Oh man this is a different beast altogether. Off the bat I noticed the 08 was quite mid forward and not necessarily as warm and balanced as my Special. It took a little dialing to get the tone I was looking forward. Backed the mids a bit and boosted the bass slightly. Still need to tweak things but I’m starting to warm up to it (I just love everything about my Special).
Thanks for the heads up!!! I told myself last week to make it a part of my morning routine to check the Vault every day and once again before bed.
Of course I forget this week and wouldn’t you know they drop not one but two 5 strings.
Purple and gold and anything with sparkles always has the potential to lure my money.
Thank goodness neither of these appealed to me more than my current players.
Those Vault offerings are getting mighty close . But no cigar yet.

Yes, it is. I drool over a lot of basses and think it would be great to own them, but I'm not actively GASsing over much. And that one I mentioned to you tops that very short list.
