Anyone see what's in the vault today hot damn
Not sure it’s it appropriate to post here but we were talking about 5 string a few pages back. The Music Man vault just dropped 2 5 string StingRays. A gold and a purple. I’m loving the purple one.

Thanks for the heads up!!! I told myself last week to make it a part of my morning routine to check the Vault every day and once again before bed.
Of course I forget this week and wouldn’t you know they drop not one but two 5 strings.
Purple and gold and anything with sparkles always has the potential to lure my money.
Thank goodness neither of these appealed to me more than my current players.
Those Vault offerings are getting mighty close . But no cigar yet.
Whew!! This getting is scary.![]()
I definitely do NOT need to check the vault. I don't have a six-figure annual bass budget!
Of course, I did anyway. That Flash Gold Stingray is pretty intriguing. But that Vintage Burst Bongo... hoo boy!![]()
Loving that purple!
I know that feeling .I do have a 5Hh so that spoke.to me but my funds said no.
Both are beautiful but I realllllllly like the Tectonic Blue Sparkle! Here are my other two Specials, a Maroon Mist 4H (still one of my favorites of all time) and Tectonic Blue Sparkle 4HH. Along with my newest addition a Snowy Night 4H just recently shown, I have all 3 fretboard woods covered. They all sound a bit different in character even with the same strings to the point that I EQ them a bit differently. It makes it interesting to change off between the 3 basses to get a slightly different presentation.

Man looking at old pictures of the Tectonic Blue including this old listing from Reverb, that is one beautiful bass. No wonder you don't see any used ones for sale. Here are my other two Specials, a Maroon Mist 4H (still one of my favorites of all time) and Tectonic Blue Sparkle 4HH. Few edays ago I played with some 2 and 3 band EQ Stingrays.
Ive alway said that to my ears the Specials sound closer to the Pre Ernie Ball Era original 2 band eq models than the Pre Special Era 3band eq models. I wish they would release the option of a mute kit on the Specials.
Nice video comparison .
