Well now you can't un hear it!!Crap, I didn't need to hear that.
Might as well figure out what finish and neck you want and go for it.
Okay, all of you cruel folks here making comments about me unhearing it... it's all I've thought about for the last day and am trying to figure out what one would cost, as well as if I could get enough for my Stambaugh fretless 5 to cover most of it.
You're not making it any easier. I'm so glad it's not an option, yet....
Oh, I still love my Stammie, for sure. I just think I'd love a 5HH special a lot more.I had a Stambaugh for my main bass from 2009-2016 or so. It was a great bass but my Special is nicer honestly.
I should point out that my Stammie is awesome. Chris makes a great bass. It looks, plays and sounds great, and I get a lot of the sounds I want out of it. But since I got it about 7 years ago, I just know a lot more about what kinds of sounds I want out of a fretless than I did, then.LOL. In general, Talkbass is one massive enabling machine. But this one and the other Stingray threads have some of the most skilled enablers on TB. But in a good way.
Ignoring that .... I do find it telling that you'd give up a Stambaugh fretless for a Stingray. It's been an interesting last couple of years seeing people find out just how good the Specials are and also seeing how many people have also been turned on by other recent Stingray variations. They ARE fantastic basses!![]()
You do realize this door opens wide in just a few short days don’t you?!?!Okay, all of you cruel folks here making comments about me unhearing it... it's all I've thought about for the last day and am trying to figure out what one would cost, as well as if I could get enough for my Stambaugh fretless 5 to cover most of it.

Purple sunset? Nice.

When this custom shop opens up, provided I don't have to shell out 4k for one (I don't want anything crazy, just a 5HH fretless), I'm going to put up the Stammie and see if I can get the funds together. If I sell it, I still have my amazing Bordwell 6 string fretless to hold me over until then.

Show off!
Yes and yes!!! Guilty as charged.Show off!![]()

What kind of case is that? Is that one of the new MMM Monos?

Get out the beeno!!Interesting. That looks a lot different from the Mono M80 I used to have. That looks like it has really nice protection around the sides and under the strap pin. How stiff/solid does it feel on the front and back of the bass? I really like the ProTec Contego, especially for the price. But I like my Reunion Blues Continental Continental Voyager and Access Stage 5 much better. They have great protection all around the case, including the front side and back side of the instrument. And especially the Stage 5, that's a GREAT case/bag (pricey, though).
If the MM Mono is pretty rigid all around, I might start developing some case GAS ...

Didn't take it as such! Yeah, I only really have a need for 1 5 and 1 6 fretless, and I'd need to sell it to make the money.Yes I didn't mean any shade against Chris's work! If you can keep them all, go for it
My new Ray came with the Mono, too. I was hoping it would have been more like the Mono Vertigo I already have. Given I already have about three hard cases, a Mono Vertigo and the two-bass Mono, I ended up selling this to the guy I sold my 5h to. The one that came with the Ray is indeed exceptional, just didn't need another case sitting around.Interesting. That looks a lot different from the Mono M80 I used to have. Is it confirmed that it’ll launch in a few days? You do realize this door opens wide in just a few short days don’t you?!?!
Take a long hard look at my recently aquired and my custom creation enabling machine !!![]()
I dont have an exact date. I was told the target launch month is April. Thats all I know. My prior statement was made in jest. A few short days means different things to different people. Is it confirmed that it’ll launch in a few days?
