I don't like the EHB sound. It's somehow sterile, lifeless (but crisp and tight, good for metal heads), however is the only one bass I own which fits in my BMW coupe trunk.

It’s not too shabby. We’re on again today too.
Cleaning up and thought this looked cool.
The only reason that I don’t own a Spector is because they don’t feel comfortable for me to play. Man, do I like that Spector growl!!
I'm putting together my current-era maintenance kit and want to have the right stuff on hand. Would the fretboard on the Special benefit from something like Dunlop fingerboard cleaner, or is that not necessary here?
Sure; I use EB Wonder Wipes Fretboard cleaner [on back of neck also]; got a few packs with Bass
I take good care of my Special; wipe whole Bass everyday with MusicNomad Flannel cloth also slip cloth under strings for fretboard and bottom of strings
Didn't use fretboard cleaner when New but till after 1 year [August]; did it need it? most likely not
Many do Fretboard when changing strings as a matter of fact
Also use EB Wonder Wipes String cleaner every so often
Anyone ever use tapewounds on their SR fretless? Taking a chance on the Labella White Nylon Tapes on my fretless 5hh. Hoping they're still punchy enough for the funk but creamy enough for the mwah.
My new BFR fretless Stingray Special. This thing is a dream to play.
Sounding good, but dang, that is killing me! I want a 5H fretless really bad...

Well - I just did some major damage to my credit card.
I've just ordered a Stingray 4HH Purple Sunset with flamed maple SLO neck and hard case. It should look like this : -
( but 4HH - I decided to get the extra pickup at the last minute. )
Interestingly, the sales team created a unique link on their website so i could order it - I'm calling it the PGPETE Signature Stingray.
God only knows how long its going to take to get delivered - 3 to 6 months I guess?

Love it! I have the one in the post right above this one. I saw this color the other night while browsing Reverb and absolutely love it. You’re gonna have an eye catcher for sure.
ahh yes - the black hardware compliments the dark sparkle and makes the honey coloured neck pop!
After browsing through the 600 + pages on this thread it makes you realize just how varied people's tastes are when it comes to colour choices. There are some colour combinations displayed which I would never choose, and I suppose there's be people out there that would see my colour choice as butt ugly.
I think we can all agree that being able to specify exactly what you want is great - usually the choice of colour comes down to what ever the local guitar shop has hangin on the wall.
Spending some Sunday afternoon time tweaking the purple sparkler - noticed that the G saddle was essentially dropped all the way down when I received it and I'm trying to lower the strings a tad more. Is this something to worry about, or am I just in shim territory and it's no big deal?

Initial thoughts:
It's the lightest five string I've ever played, 8.3lbs.
Best neck I've ever played, even moreso than the G&L Kiloton roasted maple. The contouring around the heel is brilliant, very comfortable to play.
Rad electronics, even tho it's active I feel responds like a passive bass. It's more about headroom than how much juice the pickups can push.
And talking about pickups! Position 4 sounds like a Jazz bass, and bringing the treble down is somewhat like adjusting the bridge pickup volume. Position 2 gets pretty close to a Precision sound. Especially with treble backed off a hair, mids down, bass up. The neck only position is already scooped so it needs mids pushed and flat B and T to sound good imo. I've only used the bridge position soloing so far.
Next steps: Slapping some GHS Precision Flats and getting a setup. Woo hooo! I'll playing this bass at my gig in December for sure.
The Special is taking the place of at least two basses. An exceptional instrument!
