EBMM StingRay Special Club

Ah, the old black vs. tort question. I love both. I think on yours @lomo I prefer the tort. But I would probably condition the fretboard a bit to make it look darker/richer.

My Burnt Ends HH came with the tort, which I think looks great. But I alternate back and forth with the black. In MY case, I think the black gets the slight edge, but curious what you folks think looks better.

I am not a huge fan of tort but on your bass it really works.

That finish with that specific tort? Tort!!!

Probably not a big surprise coming from me, but, yeah. :)

I'd also say a white pearl or aged white pearl wilouod also be stellar. I have a Vintage Tobacco Burst Sire Jazz bass, which has a very similar finish, and the white pearl pickguard I put on it was a huge improvement on an already pretty bass. ;)

White Pearl and Aged White Pearl look great on a lot of basses!

I was thinking you all have been quiet lol. Turns out I somehow stopped getting alerts on this thread.

Anyway haven't posted a pic in a minute. Still my

That is based on his ambiguous findings on PRE Special Stingray[not Special with revamped 18v Preamp with Neo pickup] using self built tin box preamps with modded Fender Squier :)

I have Mesa WD 800 with variable HPF and you can hear difference in Bass with my Special when HPF set at 25hz and 50hz[where I keep mine a lot] slightly more Bass at 25hz but not boomy
[he claims HPF on pre Special HPF is 70hz and there is a very noticeable difference with my Special between setting at 25 and then 70hz]

PS: Special has no spike at 4K either as he claimed with Pre-Special:)

Always liked that finish!

I haven’t posted a pic of mine in a while either, so … why not? :D

Wow, I love that Cherry Punch! It looks a lot like the Honeyburst they discontuniued several years ago.

The Butane Blue is really pretty, too, though I'll decline to call it a blue-specific superlative often used in these Stingray threads. Instead, I'll allow the creator of that blue-specific superlative use it when he/she comments on those colors, probably pretty soon. :smug:

Actually, the more I look at that picture, the more I like the Fallout Green and Dazzler, too.

New finishes for 2025, coming this spring.

I would like to see some of these finishes in person or better pics. Dazzler looks like it might sparkle and shift colors depending on the angle . Cherry punch looks like it has some. sparkles too.

Im not really seeing anything that is making me want to spend my money. I suspect if you want more unique finishes, you will have to either get a dealer exclusive, Custom Design Experience, or a BFR. Im excited to see the new BFR offering. Hopefully, coming soon.

The Butane Blue reminds me of my very first StingRay . It was a dark navy blue SUB import. BLUETIFUL!!!!
No "blue-tiful"?! I guessed wrong.

LOL
Patience my good man. I often find myself multi tasking . ;)
