Wow!! The ones you actually own were our favorites. Interesting. I think as players , we bond with instruments and know how to get the most out of them.
Seems like a wise decision not to part with the Aqua sparkle . The ebony is different enough to justify keeping it.

I guess this means you sold the heavy classic ?

I am with you on the Special but that they all sound good might have something to do with the Player

It was just inevitable, after a short stint with a DarkRay (which I could not bring home so it was just my summer holidays love) the itch to have a Special came back!

This time I really wanted one with a Ebony fingerboard, for some reason they tend to be a little bit heavier but here you go < 8lbs of awesomeness!

Got a great deal from a TBer and took this one home.

I am team Sparkle but this Raspberry with the black headstock is very yummy, PLAY great, SOUNDS great!

The Big Al was amazing and I probably get another one one day too (a 5 but those are usually heavy)

I go through a bit of stuff (don't we all) and the Stingray Special feels like home and lately I'm re-aligning a bit toward solid workhorses.

For me the Stingray 5H is a like a P bass : it works! (and on top of it they are pretty interchangeable)

Was just thinking this today... despite this obviously not being the only demographic in the world of bass nerds and gearaholics.... im kinda surprised how little of the design experience weve seen here.

I kinda wanna pull the trigger and get one with an SLO neck but they are pricey and since ive never felt an SLO neck, its not a gamble im willing to take, but more importantly i personally wasn't blown away by any of the finishes in the editor - especially compared to the really nice mainline ones. I was also expecting / hoping they would add new finishes year 2. Curious to see if they close it down completely this coming year or add to it.

Beautiful bass. I remember seeing one a couple years ago at a local shop and it had the most beautiful grain underneath the finish. It didn't last very long in the shop, someone bought it pretty quickly. Congratulations on a beautiful bass.

We really have no idea how many TB users simply don't do NBD posts or otherwise discuss all their new bass purchases, so we may have more CDE represented here than we've seen.

I have the SLO neck on my CDE purple sunset.

Using my 2010 classic neck as a reference the SLO neck is "jazz like" in that it is 1.5"/38mm whereas the standard classic neck is about 43mm. I find it far more comfortable to play - I wouldnt say that its thinner (front to back ) its still chunky in that regard
I just measured it - its 21MM at the nut and 25MM at the 12th fret

Here's some other measurements I found on the internet : -

Stingray Special width at Nut 42.8mm

SLO special neck radius 11"
SLO Special nut width 1-1/12" (38.1 mm)
Neck thickness at 1st fret 0.830" (21mm)
Neck thickness at 12th fret 0.936 (23.7mm)

Jazz Neck thickness at 1st fret 0.800" (20.3mm)
Jazz Neck thickness at 12th fret 0.900" (22.8mm)

Stingray special thickness at 1st fret 0.830" (21mm)
Stingray special thickness at 12th fret 0.936" (23.7mm)

Measured with calipers on Starry Night HS SLO special with MHS
SLO special at 1st fret 0.850" (21.59mm)
SLO special at 12th fret 0.925" (23.5mm)

My (2024) SLO special
SLO special at 1st fret (21mm)
SLO special at 12th fret (25mm)
