I don't do shorties.Sorry chaps I guess this thread is starting to be more about the short scale than the Special so I will leave it at that. Anyway you could always sell your Specials and buy a new passive short scale and become part of the club once it starts........

Yeah I was surprised and relieved that they didn't so a Sterling Special.
I gotta say I like the white a bit better but it's good to have 2 because you can always switch whenever you like.
Like the white, personally. White or aged pearloid would look nice too.
Wish I would've got the aged pearloid for my trans teal '03 SR5.

Hi I have a lot of interest in the stingray special. Is there a current owner that use one with a ampeg svt-vr ? The ampeg doesn't seems to interact well with higher output basses. What's your experience? How is the new preamp.
I played a Special through a SVT at GC when I was checking out the basses (I kinda got pissy when they kept setting me up with MarkBass or Rumble combos). Anyway, it was glorious. I would not call the Special 18v preamp “high output.” It has more headroom, not gain.
