Ebola Comes To USA

I don't know how you arrived at your "understanding", but I suspect the director of the CDC might have some real knowledge:
America's top health official has compared the outbreak of Ebola to the Aids epidemic amid dire warnings by international officials about the spread of the virus.
Thomas Frieden, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and a veteran of the fight against Aids, delivered his bleak assessment at a World Bank summit to raise funds to fight the disease.
"In my 30 years in public health, the only thing that has been like this is Aids,"
Can you show me where and when Thomas Frieden said that a widespread outbreak of Ebola is likely to occur in this country?
I have very strong opinions on this subject, none of which I can share here because...well, you know.
Theres an old saying "a chain is only as strong as its weakest link"
As has recently been indicated, there exists many "weak links" in the health care system.

I was trying to indicate the lack of skills and fundamental lack of knowledge exhibited by the medical staff at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital where Thomas Duncan was initially admitted and sent home with a handful of antibiotics.
Red flares and sirens should have going off when he walked through their doors.
There's incompetent medical staff in many hospitals.

That's a fair point. I still don't see the connection between that and the potential for a large scale outbreak of ebola in the USA. If anything the mistakes made in that case can serve as a reminder for medical staff in other places to be more vigilant.
I'm still not seeing why you guys are so paranoid about this. Don't go to any of the affected countries and don't handle corpses or lick strangers and I think you'll be fine. If anyone can explain I'd be all ears.
At the White House, spokesman Josh Earnest said the additional layer of screening would begin at New York's JFK International and the international airports in Newark, Washington Dulles, Chicago and Atlanta. Shows the people that you're at least doing something to prevent the Ebola virus from reaching the US?
If you watch the accompanying video, notice the flimsy ill-fitting paper smocks they wear as 'protection'. Its hilarious.
In West Africa, health care workers wearing full haz-mat suits are being diagnosed with Ebola every day. Do they really think a blue paper smock will protect them?

If you are serious about not letting Ebola (too late as it's already here) into the US you close borders.
I don't trust the CDC or anyone else. They say they have a plan, it's under control, but the plan is only as good as the weakest link, and there are plenty of weak links in out health care system.

My understanding comes from reading lots of different sources and coming to my own conclusions. Without insulting you or your source, I can imagine that is the exact language one would use when trying to raise funds to combat the illness. Now he may be right, and I hope he isn't but I also remember the paranoia and misinformation that infected the discourse on the Aids for years, and would not like to see this politicized and twisted for the agendas of various groups for their own purposes.

Because those health workers are closely treating Ebola patients who are infectious. Airports are screening people to remove those who have fevers and might be at the early stages of contagion, just starting to show symptoms. Do you think that every single airport employee should be wearing HAZMAT suits?
And yes, part of these efforts is symbolic. There has not been an outbreak in any country outside of Western Africa and already there are political implications in some countries, protests and panic, etc.

They constantly spin articles and push subjects that make the US look as bad and as weak as possible.
I've watched their TV channel and it's laughable how consistent they are, and their pundits are even worse.
