Eden D410XLT, now what?

Speakers should be in tomorrow. I went with 16 ohm so that I could wire it to 4 ohm total. I used the electric clipper method to trim the rat fur. I thought it worked out good. I’ll will be cleaned using my hand held carpet cleaner attachment tomorrow to get it really clean. This is a before and after of the top.

I was able to get the rat fur cleaned yesterday. Bissel green machine went to work with the hand wand. Pretty amazing how much dirt came out of it. I removed the corners and have new ones on order ($7). The drivers came in yesterday and look great. With some help from a fellow TB’er the wiring is figured out. I’ll have to stop by the hardware store tomorrow and pick up some screws to hold the drivers in. The grill is going to need some TLC (9dent, paint chips, etc). I cleaned the handles up but they still look kind of dingy. I’m thinking about shooting them some fresh paint.

What kind of corners did you get? My Eden EX110's have the fat "stacking" corners and I'm thinking I'd like to get the smaller corners, the cabs to me would feel less, well, bulky, wonky, something like that. There's something about those larger corners that doesn't flip my switch.

I’m not reselling it, So we can stop talking about that suggestion now. I’m not going to throw just any old drivers in it, so we can let that go too. Speaker technology has advanced quite a bit in the 15 years these have been around. I kind of figured by now someone would have put some neos in one and had some thoughts.

I'm with you on this David. I recently upgraded a D115T 200w cab with an Eminence Kappalite 3015LF 400w without changing the cabinet at all and it really was worth it. Light, powerful and I get a lot of compliments on the sound.

I would have looked for a used PV 410TVX on CL for another $50. and harvested the speakers out of it. The cabs are similar size.

I was surprised how good it came out.

If you want Eden replacements, these aren't priced too bad for new speakers. They are 8 Ohm, so would need to be wired series parallel.

Note that these are not Eden replacement speakers, they are a generic knock-off using different materials. For example, the original Kapton bobbin is anodized aluminum on these. Totally different.

In fact, if you look at the photos on the website, the cone position is biased forward by about 1/8-3/16" which is not right, and they claim to be drop-in exact replacements for a whole bunch of dis-similar speakers! There is not a TS parameter in sight either.

They claim to be using all OEM parts for their EV replacements, yet the parts shown are in no way OEM. There are some OEM cosmetics, but the stock EVM-12L never used a bumped back plate, so it's pretty obvious to somebody in the industry and quite misleading IMO.

Just don't assume that what you are getting is what you think you are getting.

Nice job! The fuzz clippers and the hand held carpet cleaners work great on Rat fur. I've done about 10 amps and cabs that have the Rat fur and they end up looking like new.
