This is just flat out laughable. BL wants working-band-level commitment, but isn't willing to put in any effort as a leader beyond a hobbyist's level.

Nor give a pay scale - "I never calculated the math"…I call BS. Pay as little as $20….? Seriously? Getting anything more than that and the BL thinks you scored big!

It's amazing how many BLs think they're offering something people want. They really rank up there with the venues in subscribing to the theory that everyone just wants an opportunity to have a gig and will jump at any offer.

The sad thing here is that most of the career musicians are aging out and they're not jumping at anything anymore - it has to be worth our while. The younger people are doing music in a different way on social media and they don't need the clubs, but the clubs can't see their way clear to pay a little more to keep the older people engaged enough to play their gigs. We truly are in the midst of a sea change WRT live music.

The BL for the last regularly gigging band I was in swore me off ever dealing with a BL again. I'm in a trio with equal say for all members now, after a near ten year break from bands, and I couldn't be happier. No more Dear Leaders for me.
