Ahhh, yes... my company is HQ'd in VA, and we sell mostly into the Government. Trust me... it gets WAY WAY WAY worse (as I figure you might know, noting you're in VA). Dude there are acronyms with letters that stand for other acronyms, and I'm not even close to joking. :)

Also, I tried out an Epi 410 today but not sure if it's a T or NYC. It was pretty heavy, had the signatures on the speakers, and sounded great. Couldn't make out the model # except for the 410 part. It's 4 ohms and was rated at 400 watts (seems low to me). What would be a fair offer for this cab? Rat fur is a little ratty.

I believe that's one of the older NYC models (heavier wood and ceramic drivers). They are way heavy. I believe the power rating was the same as the UL's (1000 watts), so not sure there. I think Nick used to suggest a MINIMUM of 400 watts with that cab, so that might be the low end of the range and the higher end was smudged away from the panel or something.

In that shape, I would think about $500 would be fair... tops.

No problem at all. the UL310 is actually 5.3 ohms. That results in your speaker combination being a touch over 3 ohms, well within the safe operating range of your amp (which is safe at 2ohms).

The 310UL will get more of the power (a bit more than 3/5's, I think) but that's a good thing, since it has more drivers and higher power handling.

Yep, you're exactly right. The 310 is 3 16's in parallel, and the 8 can be thought of as 2 16's in parallel.

So you have twice as much power dropped at the 15 vs any one of the 10's, BUT, that's probably fine.

hmm...

the UL310 will grab more power, but i'm thinking the lower middle thump of the PS115 will definitely make itself known in your sonic assault.

but to be safe, the WT800 would be a better option, since it has a biamping feature built into the amp itself. pretty handy, and always wondered why other companies never explored this.

dang,

external, that's REALLY hard to tell. but given the lower rating, its probably an earlier NYC model. cause the later T series were arena blasters.

you can also try looking at the speakers, and calling up the shop, cause only nick would know the difference there.

The WT800 might be more ideal because it gives you more control, so we agree on that. HOWEVER, IME, with an appropriate selection of speakers, like I think is the case here, things can work out sorta' automatically too. IMHO this rig will also work well.

i think another way to tell is whether or not that 4x10 has speakon jacks.
I have two of the T series cabs, when they started putting dual speakons and dual 1/4 inch jacks in the cabs. either way, old ceramic loaded epifani cabs rule in my opinion! ina week or so i will have a 2x10+1x12 mini rig, and i cant wait.(replacing my 1x10 with a 2x10).

i really want the piccalo to come out so i can ab with all these other micro amps before pulling the trigger. right now im thinking of goign with an older GK 400rb to power my setup....gotta love that old school solid state tone.
