Epifani PS 600

I spoke with Nick Epifani the other day and he mentioned that he will be upping the price on the PS 600 beginning January 1, 2007. He feels that it's worth more that the street price of $999 being that it's basically the same as the UL502 but without the second channel. He says that the new street price will be around $1199.

Wow, and it was JUST RECENTLY released into the market.

Why not keep the price where it is so more people can afford it and buy it? It's a shame to mark prices up for the sake of marking them up. The price that was set must already allow them the profit margin needed.

I thought the point of the PS series was to give Epi tone/performance at lower cost? Welp. Epifani goes on the list of companies i'll never buy anything from.

Looks like the PS112 already went up from $399 to $449. Glad I got mine at the earlier price. But ya know, this kinda thing happens all the time.

Really??? Now the street price is almost DOUBLE that. That makes no sense to me at all but I guess it all boils down to what the market can bear.

I bought it from GGuitars in CT. I just got a UL212 from them a couple of weeks ago. I called last week to ask when they were expecting to receive the PS600. They told me it was due in on Friday, so I had them reship it right to me. I don't know if they had more than one unit though.

But did you guy's think about the fact that when Nick priced them for the street and by the time they became available that possibly his costs may also have gone up.

that was my thinking also, these things happen all the time, cost of materials go up or whatever and the prices have to go up also, i guess it is a bit of a shame though.

from what i read in BP it seemed to be lacking in features and there were some minor issues such as low quality jacks and the larger issue of only one speaker output. i would definately thnk about getting one but at that price IMO its better to spring a little bit extra and get the 502.

I understand you on that. About the BP issue though, Nick is having the 1 speakon issue being taken care of and with the PS cabs as well. The PS600 and PS cabs BP had were of Nick's first right after NAMM.

But for a single speakon out of the PS600, IMO, that's all that's needed. 1 for a 4 or 8 ohm cab, if you go with 2x8 ohm cabs you can go from one cab to the other.

The reason I'm getting the PS600 is for a second amp when I'm double gigging.

It's here! A very nice piece indeed. Only 8 Lbs! It's been on the UPS truck since early this AM, so I'm going to let it come up to room temperature before I try it out.

Keep in mind that the 502 and the PS600 have different power sections, and the PS600 is almost half the weight of the 502.

Another thing to keep in mind is that exchange rates affect costs as well. If I remember correctly, the power sections are made in Italy.
