Epifani UL-410 VS UL2-310

Schroeder is a close 2nd but I think for the styles i play (R&B/Jazz/Funk/Acoustic Rock.. relatively in that order) Epifani will be better. Anyway, Right now Musicians friend has the UL-410 on sale for $999 at first i thought WOW that's what i was going to pay for the UL-310, but then i realized that the UL2's are out and they are probably trying to get rid fo the UL1's..

So my question is: which would be better UL1-410? UL2-310 Or is it worth the extra $150 for the UL2-410? I'm not soo concerned with volume, the head i have no is only 500watts so it won't push either cab (I plan to upgrade in the future) I'm more concerned with punchy tone and clarity.

Thanks in advance for any opinions.

Not to through a wrench in your thought process but Bergantino just came out with the HS410 which from what I've heard is supposed to kill... It is also $999. Bertgantino is legendary, almost, for the quality and sound of his cabs.

85 pounds! That may or may not be an issue, but is for some of us, and I believe for the OP also, given previous posts on this thread.

For example, for 8 ohms, it's 2 8 ohm 10's in series (for 16 overall) wired in parallel with another single 16 ohm 10 for (16' || 16) = 8. This means one 10 is getting twice the power of the other two, which bugs me a bit. They say you can't really tell from an audibility standpoint, but even if that's the case, just knowing the power is so unevenly distributed inside is a bit unsettling for me. I'd be worried about that lone 10 under heavy power such as approaching their rated 750W each... that one 10 is getting 375W of power in that case. :eek: :eek:

I'm guessing they need to rate it based on what that one speaker would see in a given situation, apparently a 250W, so the cab should probably really be rated at 500W, not 750W max, and the fact that the other two drivers will never be pushed hard is moot.

Other than that, they look like cool cabs.

What do they do to get a 4 ohm configuration? Is it 5.3 with the drivers getting equal power?

I totally agree, and the thin depth makes it pretty schleppable. However, 85 pounds is 85 pounds. It is on the lighter side of heavy, though:cool: In the spirit of this thread, I believe the OP is looking for a lighter weight solution, and, if the revoiced 410UL is as good sounding as you say, this cab doesn't stand a chance:smug:

I keep thinking what my 410UL would feel like with three ten pound weights stacked on top of it:eek:

To be fair, for those who don't mind lugging around a heavy cab, and enjoy a more 'rock' oriented tone, this is probably one heck of a box, and it sounds like it greatly improves on the original SA410!

Look you are starting to use the same anacronyms for cars and bass cabs. Some of you are using different anacronyms for the same object. The readability score is falling off the chart. I was interested but I can't deal with the schlepping back and forth between page 1 and pg. II to see exactly what is being referred to. I am going to end up with an Audi S6 running a series 2 driver looking for a CRV with right Elements to schlep the whole mess somewhere. Somebody, HEP' me please!:help:

Same series/parallel way, 2 4's in series for 8, paralleled with a single 8, for 4 overall. Again, the single 8 ohm 10 gets 50% of the power, and each of the 4 ohm 10's get 25%. That 8 ohm 10 is the whipping boy of the cab for sure. :)
