Snap! I flipped an EB0 last year and it’s been great. Like you, I found the stock pup to be lack lustre so I swapped it out for a Dimarzio Model 1 and I love it. I wired the pup straight to the output jack. It has a great versatile tone.I have a jamspot/studio in my basement, and like to accomodate the friends and family i have that play, so i bought a Thunderbird Goth right handed bass. Im a sucker for the goth series overall.
My son is learning to play by using Rocksmith, and he is 10 and left handed like me. I got a short scale EB0, and flipped the strings and nut. The control knobs were in the way still, so i busted out the router and such, and did a full lefty conversion. Drilling for the neck pickup was something i was a little apprehensive to try, and i didnt love the tone coming from it originally anyhow. So i opted to rout in a bridge pup. I bought a cheapy just in case this entire project fell flat. Now that the EB0 is assembled and working, i may upgrade ot something real nice, or even go active, we shall see. Since i had to do a full repaint due ot the number of holes being filled and whatnot, i opted to go with a goth series look. I think it turned out good. My son is happy, and im pleased with the job. As a lefty, selections overall tend to suck, so i had to create my own. lol.

Regarding our previous discussion concerning plywood vs solid wood body construction on the EB0, I finally had a chance to pop the control cavity cover on mine to investigate. Mine is made in Indonesia so I can't speak for any that would come from Korea or China. The raw exposed wood that shows where the pickup wires feed into the cavity (and is missing any of the shielding paint) is large enough to show that there are no obvious ply's, just solid red wood which I would guess is whatever version of Mahogany that Epi uses. Looking at the outside of the body you can also see where certain wood grain features telegraph around the edges of the body from front to the edge and to the back. The body is also made of 3 pieces that do not really match with grain patterns or features. If this was a plywood body with a veneer to make it look decent, I doubt they would veneer it to look like this.
Anyhow, based on my exhaustive 5 minutes of research (haha) I would say that my EB0 is indeed solid wood and not plyood.
I had a Zenith for a little over a year. It was a great player, but heavy, and I found that I wasn't playing it as much as I wanted to because of that. The sound and electronics, even if you don't use the stereo output, was great. If you can find one at a reasonable price, I would go for it.I have G.A.S. for one of these

And one of these, but not fretless

Anybody want to fill me in on these?
Have one? Thoughts?
Thanks. I'm surprised that it was heavy. Do you recall how much it weighed?I had a Zenith for a little over a year. I never weighed it, but I'm guessing in the 9-10 lb range, if not more! I believe the body is mahogany, and even though it's chambered, it was noticeably heavier than my other basses.Thanks. I'm surprised that it was heavy. Do you recall how much it weighed?
Nice. What year is this?
Nice. What year is this?
I think EASTWOOD is starting a run of these with real F holes?
Hi.
Right i'm making a general Epiphone club. I did a search and couldn't find one. I know some of you are going to think not another club! but hear me out.
There has recently been loads of specific Epiphone club threads. Whilst that might be good its stopping other Epiphone user joining. The Thunderbird and the Allen Woody Rumble Cat being the most recent one.
So here it is if you have an Epiphone bass join here. Doesn't matter what type. If you have a Rumble Cat or Thunderbird you can join this one its up to you.
I'll be assigning numbers. It's also nice to post up photo's of your bass.
I'm number one the founding member.
I own 2 Epiphones, Les Paul Special bass and a Allen Woody RumbleKat. So is there anything I need to do to join? First Club I wanted to join.
