Episode III

Chris J said:
Wedge is his son and I had no idea Vader chokes Captain Antilles. We're talking about the guy at the very beginning of Ep IV in the Corellian Corvette that the droids escape from, right? I can't remember the name of the ship. One thing I liked a lot in Ep III was that Grand Moff Tarkin was in it. I thought that was great.

what the? when?

Yep. Wedge is the progeny of Captain Antilles, who is the guy that Vader chokes in Ep IV.

So that skeletal guys was Tarkin, eh? I asked my wife if she thought that is who he was supposed to be.

I coulda sworn I remember reading that Wedge actually *isn't* related to the Captain. I think it was from the horse's mouth(lucas) even.

I have always been a SW movie purist, I stay out of the extended universe for the most part, I always wanted to believe wedge was related to captain antilles, but something in me is telling me that's not the case.

*shrug* I dunno, whatever.

Apparently, you are correct. And I am not. I have read some of the other novels, but not the right ones.

I think what made Vader's "Nooooooo" extra funny was all of the times that type of melodrama has been lampooned over the past 20 years. It really struck me as a very "Futurama" comedy moment. I don't think it would have played that way as much back in 77. Also I never liked Padme much as a character so it didn't bother me that she was dead. Anyone who loses the will to live because their husband turns evil doesn't deserve to live anyway. Made her look like a great mother- popping out twins then giving up on them. WTG!

They need to make a 3.5 just to fill in that 20 year gap between III and IV.

Mace Windu went out like a woman.

Haiden Christiansen sucked again.

Jedi are not supposed to be emotionally attatched, so why did obi wan have to go on about "loving you like a brother" to anakin?

They tease us with qui gon... but dont let us see him. They talk about "new training" and the dead speaking to the living, but unless you are farily into 4,5,6 you dont realize that he was talking about the guys coming back as ghosts and talking.

natalie portman had way to many clothes on.

they should have killed jar jar

That's one of the ways that Obi-Wan failed him as a master. He wasn't ready for that kind of responsobility, and, as such, failed to teach Anakin properly.

I agree with most all you said, only I thought Hayden actually worked out a decent perfromance. Overall I liked the movie, I was very entertained and into it, which is what's important.

But in addition to what you said, I also thought General Grievius was the stupidest f'n thing I've ever seen. He's a friggin robot with asthma. At least Vader is human with robot parts. Using four lightsabers is redundant and lame, because he got killed with one. Oops, I guess we forgot one is alll you need.

I thought I knew what was going to happen with this movie, but I must say, I didn't expect it to get under my skin. I actually vomited at some points.

I think my favorite part was when that cyborg fella escaped using Mr. Garrison's invention (the one that's still better than the airport)

Oh yeah, it would've been better if the dialogue had bee at all audible. The sound effects were enought to wake the neighbors and I still couldn't understand a single word. Then again, every new movie I've seen for probably 10 years has been the same way. (pathetically sad if you ask me)

I just saw the III and I have only one word to describe it: crap-tastic!

I simply refuse to understand how Lucas brutally raped the whole saga with childrens movies like this. It's like, 95% special effects and fancy digital scenes, 5% screenplay - pretty much like any generic action game nowadays.

I told my g/f the moment we were out that back in the good old days in the 70's, when Lucas was starting his ILM et al, they really couldn't do any fancy effects as a base for everything, so they really had to stretch out and think how to make a "believable" movie outta something as wildly imagined as what Lucas had in mind.

Now Lucas has computers to do every kind of graphics he might want, so he just wings it, like a crayon to a coloring book.

I agree that ESB was the best of the movies, most dark and 'adult' one too. It all went down the drain with Lucas's ewoks and children friendliness.

Are you sure you saw the same movie as everyone else?

I'm honestly really curious as to what you thought was childish about episode 3. Because the movie I saw was far darker and more 'adult' than any other star wars movie, empire strikes back included. Aside from a couple of goofy droid scenes, there was nothing in episode 3 that could even remotely be construed as childish. So, if you could please tell me what scenes made the whole movie childish for you?

Like, criticize the movie's acting, story, effects or dialog or whatever, but even then, the content is still very far from being childish at all. Hell when I saw it, there was a kid in the audience CRYING when the jedi were slaughtered.

And goofy love scene moments aren't childish, they're just dumb.

My wife and I both enjoyed it more the second time around. Once you've got that initial feel for it, you're better able to digest it the second time.

I love it when Palpatine screams "POWER!!! UNNNNLLLLIIIIMMMMITED... POWER!!!!!!" but I've always been a Palpatine fanboy. :D
