I know, but he didn't do something directly, if you know what I'm saying. He just commanded his troops and made up a great plan to form an empire. It's only in Episode II you see a legendary fight between good & evil, like Luke vs Darth Vader in episode VI

If you say Battlefield Earth...
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas was very close to the book. That was a great film.
Wether it is better or not is hard to define, but it was definitely a very good adaptation.
What a great movie. I came out of it saying "I want five more movies" The story was amazing, I got so into it at some parts. Truly a great film.
I'm going to really show my geekdom here 
, but if they make a third SW trillogy (a trillogy of trillogies per se) they should do Timmothy Zahn's Thrawn Trillogy. Timing wise it fits, and it's a really good set of stories.

I remember reading one of those books... Luke started the Jedi acadamy, Anakin Solo and his sister, don't remember her name... Could someone list the titles?

I just took my kid to see it. She's about a year younger than I was when the original came out. So continues the circle of life...
I loved it! I think it might be the best one yet. At the end I found myself sad knowing that there's no more....damn you, George!

They must have had backup plans stored somewhere, plus, it was fully operational, but the appearance of it was made to decieve that they still needed a few years to work on it.
9 years between hope and jedi. And given the length of projects just to repair roads in NY state, I can easily see it taking 18 years to build something the size of a moon.
They also might have had the second death star in progress before the first one blew up. They need to oppress a whole galaxy, after all.

I took my mom with us; she saw Episode IV in '77...the hype on this one got to her & she wanted to see it.
So, at the very end, the twins are being taken to their new respective worlds & BAM! the movie ends.
My mom sez, "Is that all"?
...followed by-
"I guess he's gotta make another one, huh"?
Feel free to use either or both at one of your repeated viewings...
Then today, at the gig, I'm talking to the one band member that has seen it...this guy told me he actually teared up.
a)He said he saw Episode IV when he was 7; so, he has been waiting for this series to resolve itself for the last 28 years & now he realizes it's over.
b)He said it freaked him out at how evil Anakin became. Sure, we knew Darth Vader was a pretty bad guy...but wiping out even the younglings?! Wow.
Anyway, it goes to the top of the heap for me. Easily.
I took my mom with us; she saw Episode IV in '77...the hype on this one got to her & she wanted to see it.

The youngling part was probably the most disturbing moment in film I've ever seen. They don't even show what happens, but it still got to me more than something gory or violent. I guess that's my testimony to the fact that Lucas really did portray Anakin's fall in an effective way. It was just gut-wrenching.
I almost teared up at the very end when they showed Alderaan, because as far back as I can remember I wanted to see the doomed planet up close, and each time I went to one of the prequels I was hoping desperately for a glance.
