I've got a question that really bugs me about this whole prequel thing and this movie in particular. How do the adult characters age so much in 18 years??? You're telling me Ewan ThaMcGregor becomes Alec Guiness in 18 years?t must be some hard livin'. And Luke's Uncle and Aunt go from fresh faced young farmers to shriveled bags in 18 years???
And Leia said she remembered her mother... from what, when she was one second old???

Indeed, the LOTR films ARE the greatest films ever made, without a doubt.

I'm with you. I bet when Return of the King came out G. Lucas saw it and said," man......I just got my A*s Kicked."

I think everyones criticism does have weight.. But there is no perfect movie (i guess LOTR would come closest to perfection). But all in all considering the first 2 movies, AND the 3 classics. This was really really really good! I dont rember any memorable dialog in any of the starwars films.. Do you? The film's most quoted line is:

"Luke, i am your father."

This is probably the most ironic post I've ever seen, because that's not even how the line goes! Try: "No. I am your father."

I'm going to go see it tomorrow maybe. I've built myself a lightsabre. It's more of a really dangerous use of a high voltage transformer that creates a pretty much uncontrollable plasma discharge that comes out of an electrode that I've set into an alumina rod. Wish me luck.

All have seemingly plausible storylines and no "deus ex machina" crap. All are wonderfully shot and written and the acting is top notch in everyone.

About the aging thing: there is one character that just doesn't make sense. Wedge! How the hell is he in this one?! Assuming he's 20ish here, 18 years from now would put him at 38, and 9 years after that (RoTJ) would put him at 47. That's just a *bit* older than he is in that movie, no? I just don't think he'd be that old. Maybe I'm wrong. I've got a couple other questions, if anybody realllllly nerdy wants to answer them, PM me so I don't spoil things.

Yeah I would say from your last line that you don't get it at all, and never will. When you get older will you play only classical music on the bass and will you feel sorry for bass players still playing the music they love even though they should be too old for it?

Answering your question....first off, the comparison you came up with is sort of lame. But, if I see old men dressing up like members of Twisted Sister, Motley Crue, Winger, Ratt, or Poison when I am also an old man, than I would feel bad for them. If those same men want to play music from bands they enjoyed as younger men, I would not feel bad for them. I'm only 33, and listened to the bands I mentioned earlier in my teen years. I like to play music from some of those bands.

This is where the comparison doesn't work. Playing music, and acting like something make believe are way different. I'm not talking about people playing music. I am not laughing at these people because they like Star Wars and want to watch a long anticipated movie, I am laughing because these people are in their 40's and over running around in the rain dressed up like imaginary movie charaters acting like they are fighting with light sabers and pretend guns. What don't I "get"?

What you don't seem to get is that people are letting their hair down and having fun. Remember fun? Sometimes people act silly and stuff to have a laugh.

Whatever you do, don't find yourself at an SCA event or renaissance faire or *gasp! horror!* a showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Saw it last night with the wife and kids. Very good movie, almost as good as the original trilogy.

I have a few comments, but they are all spoilers, so I will refrain for now.

Midnight showings alone grossed $16.5 million.

I went to see it yesterday, and I must say, I was amazed.
Growing with the first episode, I was very curious for episode I, II and III. I was a bit of a dissapointment, it wasn't bad, but not really good either. II was a lot better, and II is definitely the best of the first trilogy (or second, it all depends on how you see it ).
I especially liked all the things that refer too the earlier trilogy, like spaceships that look like X-wings or Imperial shuttles, or Leia's ship in Episode IV.
And it's good to have a true villan back in the business, something we didn't really have in episode I and II

They are simply the novels transformed into film and probably one of the best Book-to-Movie adaptations I've seen, but still they are just J.R.R. Tolkiens works.

I thought the LOTR series was a pretty LOUSY adaptation of perhaps the best fiction ever created... Peter Jackson happens to weed out scenes directly from the book so that he can keep his own scenes that go against the spirit of Tolkien's world. Ok, it was still a great film series, nonetheless.

I know this is a Revenge of the Sith thread, but I can't help it.

Uhhh... the Emperor IS the true villain. He was in both I and II. He just happens to be revealed to those who happen to have missed the original trilogy in episode 3.
