Yeah I would say from your last line that you don't get it at all, and never will. When you get older will you play only classical music on the bass and will you feel sorry for bass players still playing the music they love even though they should be too old for it?MJ5150 said:

I've got a question that really bugs me about this whole prequel thing and this movie in particular. How do the adult characters age so much in 18 years??? You're telling me Ewan McGregor becomes Alec Guiness in 18 years? That must be some hard livin'. And Luke's Uncle and Aunt go from fresh faced young farmers to shriveled bags in 18 years???
And Leia said she remembered her mother... from what, when she was one second old???

I have one question, why does Anakin seem to be able to breathe on his own after getting burned, but in all the books it says it helps him breathe, and in ROTJ, he says he can't survive without the mask.
Even better question is how they can all just hang around wielding their swords etc when they are standing on a river of LAVA???? Its like 1000+ degrees down there, but they act like they are swanning around on the red carpet at the Oscars (which Natalie Portman should never even be invited to)

Ewan McGregor is 34, but given the time elapsed since EpI, is playing someone closer to 40 in EpIII. Add 18 years, you get someone in his late 50s. Alec Guiness was 62 when EpIV was filmed. Not that far off.
The memory thing? Something to do with the Force, I'm sure...
I really enjoyed Ep III. It was not as good as the original trilogy, but it was a great film on its own and did a good job of handling moving forward a story where everyone already knows the ending (not easy to do). The plot details could certainly have been handled with more care and better execution, but its still better than I was expecting. It still managed to make me feel sorry for Anakin while hating him at the same time, and the montage scene for Order 66 was actually pretty haunting.
I had a blast dressing up, it was like being 5 years old again, and would do so again in a heartbeat. Hell I think anyone who didn't go in costume missed out on something fun and unique, it was great.
All in all it was a good evening.

I absolutely loved the movie!!!!
I think some people are overly critical to mr. Lucas. Enjoy the movie for what it was. I thought that pound for pound it was the best Star wars to come out. I admit, its been awhile since i saw the original ones. And The phantom menace did nothing for me. Seeing yoda fight in the second one was pretty cool. But Episode 3 was that ish. I really thought it was a GREAT movie.. Its rare that a movie has me sitting there looking up at the screen like a 5 year old!

Lucas did not. Man, if they could digitally replace the script, this could be a good movie.
Everything in Eps I & II should have been put into one movie. Everything Ep III tried to do should have been spread out over two movies.
Some dialog might have been nice. I know this ain't Shakespeare, but damn, this mush wouldn't pass muster on a greeting card.
I won't criticize the acting, because I don't think anyone on the planet could have made Anakin's and Padme's lines work. It's painful to watch Chistiansen and Portman try, but there's nothing they can do. Props to Ewen McGregor, who goes above and beyond, but still, he's fettered to dumb lines.
Visually, aside from the Emperor's "early 80s heavy metal video" makeup job, the film is stunning. The story outline makes sense, and could have been made into a script if they'd hired a writer.
The editing is abrupt and jarring, going for a "isn't this cool" approach instead of "this is meaningful."
And why did they tease us about the Wookies? Damn, I wanted to see Chewbacca rip some arms off, finally, but nada.
Peter Jackson, after you remake King Kong, could you be so kind as to remake Star Wars? We'd appreciate it. Thanks.

I think everyones criticism does have weight.. But there is no perfect movie (i guess LOTR would come closest to perfection). But all in all considering the first 2 movies, AND the 3 classics. This was really really really good! I dont rember any memorable dialog in any of the starwars films.. Do you? The film's most quoted line is:
"Luke, i am your father."
I doubt u can argue that Star wars was EVER based on solid, shakespeare worthy dialog. <-- IMHO

Well, I watched it last night. Overall, I enjoyed it, though I know I would have had a better time if I hadn't completely spoiled myself by reading all the spoiler reports over the last year or so!
Just two real complaints: one were the Anakin/Padme scenes (and my wife muttered "noooo...." and shielded her eyes with her hands whenever they had dialog.
) I wish someone other other than Natalie Portman was cast in this role; she's just not good or convincing in it. Hayden Christensen is a little better, but he's best when he's just being evil and honked off in Vader mode. And second, the CGI was... well, just a tad overboard at points.
Easily the best out of the prequels though. I think even some of the haters could like this one (I think it's less cheesey than Return of the Jedi with its abundance of Ewoks and instrument-playing muppets. Seriously, the whole Jabba's palace thing was like the Muppet Show on acid.)

Damn people. I liked it. A LOT. I went to the midnight showing, got back at 3 AM, and then my parents told me as long as I studied for tomorrow and did some yard work I could stay home... kinda wish I went to school on 3 hours sleep, but never mind.
