Double Bass Evah Pirazzi strings megathread part III

I`m really liking my Evah weich E and A, have them with a Garbo D and nylon wrapped Pirastro Pizzicato G that I had lying around. Tried the full set but there was just that little bit of too much tension happening at the height I like to keep my strings. When the finaces allow I`ll try Olivs on top of Evah weichs, pizz is really, really good now but more balanced bowed tone wouldn`t hurt. I`ve recently started to learn slapping and with this setup it isn`t completely out of the question. Great strings, all Evahs. I recently tried a full set of requlars too, but couldn`t live with the lower setup. Anyhow, arco was fantastic on those!

All Evah weich back on my bass after having Eudoxa D and Oliv G. I think wrapped gut uppers improve spiro's but not Evahs. The weich are a great balanced set

I'm sticking with my full set of Evah Weichs. I've never been happier with strings. I play 80-20 pizz and arco. Love them for both.

Okay, so both of you are done experimenting with strings AND using mixed sets? I'll mark this date on my calendar ;)

A tough addiction to tame! Everytime you think you are done and stick to a full unmixed set, that idea comes back ,..about trying things you have used before, and were not satisfied with...didn't someone say that was the definition of insanity ??? .....But we are musicians...

nope I went back to a full set of spirocores right after posting. But it was a little bright so I have a Gamut G, Obligato D and Evah medium A on the way. Just to try :p

I moved away from my new set of Evahs because after a few weeks they became dead. I talked to a friend about this and he said that they die after a few weeks but come back to life shortly. Does anyone else experience this? A new set sounding dull and then not feeling very good after a little bit? I had a 2 year old set on my bass that i got used that I had for 4-5 months that were great.
