Ever seen a dead Jaguar?

Looks like they used my bass for the hammer throw, and yours as a target for javelin!

Based on my interaction with MF, I would get them to file the claim with UPS...like someone in this thread said, they will probably have more clout, and can get you the money quickly. Sorry about the finish though...poly is so hard to repair. I tried the drip approach with nail polish on my Aerodyne, but you can still tell it's there.

Has anyone ever filed a claim with UPS? I wonder if they will pay cash for partial damage.

Wow, UPS is having a hell of a week. Were they playing darts with your box???

As others have said, UPS can be a real PITA to deal with for damage claims. I'd avoid dealing with them directly, and either get a different color from MF, or just return the thing and get one in the color of your choice from elsewhere.

I asked about that. They are completely out of all colors with two red ones on back order. After that, it's done. And I don't think I will find a Jaguar for $509.

BTW, the Fender Friday deal tomorrow is for a Strat, not a bass. :spit:

MY STORY TIME

: So if your wanting to post in this thread read the whole thing so you understand whats going on i am not going to answer question that have already got asked.

Missed the UPS truck and met up with the driver. Got the bass . Checked out the amp damm that is small. My box had on holes no dnets barely anywear , i was talking with ups guys waiting to get my box and they were real nice , local guys in my smaller town.

Got the bass home unwrapped it . The box was fine and so was the bass. Very clean i mean its NEW!!!!!!. jamming on it for awhile.

Its grounding is not great. When i lift the bass i hear a rattle. The truss rod is moving around in the neck. I notice the allen wrench put it in and it just spins.

ITS BROKEN.

Yep yep called MF they said these last ones have been coming in as "junk",

Long story short that i really dnt even care t talk about i am keeping the amp screw them. My invoice says amp 0.00 and bass 509.00 so yep guess i got an amp.

I got the impression it would be never! I will call back and ask again.

No more Jaguars. They are extinct at Musicians Friends! My options are:

1. Return and get a full refund.
2. File a claim with UPS and they take it back to MF, which is essentially the same as number 1.
3. Live with it and take a discount for it being blemished, which is about $12! :hmm:
4. Buy something else.

I have 45 days to decide. Being that this was such a good deal ($509), it's going to be hard to decide.

bui
My deepest condolences.

I must really compliment you on maintaining such an even keel and level head during what has been a catastrophically emotional event. What with all the dreams, the anticipation, and everything else that goes along with the arrival of a new instrument, only to find it's been through the war, you Sir have been the better man than I.

Because personally, I'd have lain in wait for the moron to make his next run and gone Viking on his head using the shattered remains of my Jag as my avenging axe.

This sad tale reinforces my standard practice of 'If I can't play it beforehand then I'm not interested'

Man that sucks! Sorry that things turned out this way. I was hoping one bass turned out good.

BTW: Your neck is covered under warranty, if you wanted to bother.

Ok my bass is in great shape i mean its beautiful and there is not a mark on it.It seems the truss is messed up though and i am not going to touch it. The thing plays freaking great and looks killer.

and UPS did right with me nothing in my claim is there fault everyhting arrived fine on there part.

Thanks for fenders contact number i am going to have my tech verify its messed up before i bother.

I would take pics but i really dont wnat to find my camera take pics load them to my myspace becuase i have no photosho and then post them so everyone can see a white jag lol plus i am working on a paper thanks for understanding

I'm really shocked all these Jags are coming in broken. Completely contrary to all the good things normally said about Fender Japan and MF

I think in all but one of these the problem has been UPS, not Fender. Other than the gash in the back, mine is great, and I may keep it. I adjusted the truss bar and it worked great. It adjusted well and wasn't too tight. I brought the strings way down, and there was no buzzing. So I think the neck is good. The fret board looks dry, so I'm going to change the strings now and put some oil on it. But, so far it sounds great.

My fret board was dry as well. fender will make this right some way and i am in no way worried, numerous friends have had problems with fender and they always came out on the winning side.

BTW i sold the amp fro 180$ already , its gone a couple towns away already.

Wrbass, look at it this way you can sell the amp for about 200$ and your bass costs around 300$ in the end grab the extra little blem money and just rock it, thats what i would do all in all you would probably have less than 300$ into it, you cant even get a used jag that cheap and maybe not worry about dinging it up and just refinish her sometime.
