I tossed out an old Guild pilot. I was young and dumb(er) and took it apart, tried to mod it, but ended up screwing the whole thing up.

Not quite a bass, but my uncle did the same to an upright piano that my grandma left for me. Smashed it to bits when I was 14. I haven't spoken to him since. Without asking he took them to his band saw cut them into little pieces to burn in his fire pit. One was a 1965 Gibson SG, a 1967 Harmony P-Bass, A Univox High Flyer and I think the other was a 1970 Harmony Strat. All in all a whole lot of money went into that fire pit.
