so i was looking for something fun to compose on bass, when i stumbled across a video of jean baudin playing bach on his nine string conklin. i would love to learn stuff like this, but cant find any music that is either in standard music notation, or music that is not composed for regular guitar...so do any of the ERB guys have any cool classical music tabs that they can share?

It has been on the GHServices site for a while now. a year at least I think? Nice instrument. A bit weird for sure but probably the lightest and most comfortable 9 out there. I'd love to try it.

My Barker 6 is finished and worked its first two gigs this weekend ..... the bass is absolutely wonderful and plays like a dream . I still have to put on a proper set of strings and switch out the nut, but overall it's even better than my previous Barker 5 string, which I loved .......

I'll do a complete review of it over the next few months once I get some serious playing time on her, but for now here are a few quick pics:

Hey Ed, what was the reason that you used a Brice/Douglas neck? I couldn't find the explanation in your Barker thread.

Actually, the reason I finally got Lee Barker to agree to make a 6 had a lot to do with the Brice Z6 idea. Basically, Lee used the Brice body as a "template" to construct the neck pocket and electronics cavities, an idea he had been messing around with for a while. The concept is to "Baker-ize" a favorite bass that someone might own.

My other two options were either a Warmoth Gecko neck (spacing is too tight for me @ 16.5 mm) or have a neck custom built. By using the Brice Z6 neck I got the string spacing I wanted (19mm) on a neck that I like a whole lot (the necks are the nicest parts on the Brice Z6's, IMO), plus I was able to utilize the pickups and pots. Saved a ton of money by doing that .....
