Extremely low frequency cabinets / drivers? 20hz?

I played one of Skip's E0 basses at a GTG here, though about 8 kilowatts worth of rig + PA or so. None of it was optimized for his bass, so when I got to about the 12th fret on the E string things got much louder and fuller sounding, a very interesting thing to experience for the first time. I didn't really get to grips with how I might leverage that most musically, as the ductwork in the club was threatening to come down...Link Removed

The Hathor 1855 that Skip played his 13Hz bass through at the Seattle GTG last year seemed to work a lot better though, even with "only" 1000 watts driving it.

four acme 2x10's and a 2 ohm stable amp? I doubt you'd get much 20hz out of it but it'd reach really low and not be crazy expensive used.
I bought an acme 2x10 and now I find myself running a high pass filter to get rid of some of those lows I thought I wanted.:meh:
I bet the quake would be a really fun instrument to play though!

The jury's still out on that cab, and it's not intended for production, but it might be a useful data point one way or the other. bholder apparently doesn't need the relative portability of that cab, which added to its cost.

Yeah, I wouldn't say no to the portability, but it's not an immediate requirement. I do own a cargo van, though, just in case. (That's how the Accugroove got home from the shipping warehouse.) :)

how is the ghost-inhabited G&L ?
Looked great in the pictures, now tell us how's the playability?

Bet it virtually plays itself.

How's the tone?

Bet it's Wicked!

I'd expect that you are looking for something that is a futile effort. Most eq "out" those frequencies with high pass filtering. Many stop their power amps at 50 for the subs.
Bear in mind what your "hearing" from a note that low is the harmonics not the fundamental.
Cabs that extend that low are able to do it but without much efficiency due you the amount of power to produce that low of a note at a reasonable volume.

I do remember him being one of the others interested 10+ years back. And yeah, I understand about the efficiency trade-off.

It's actually a wonderful sounding and easy playing bass - MFD FTW! My 1st G&L, doubt it'll be my last. ;)

Look at an SB2 or SB1.
ASAT are cool but they neck dive a bit.
If you dig a music man vibe take a look at an L1500
Always look for translucent colors the wood is better. Ash or mahogany flavor for days.
One of my faves was an El torro with a kahler tremelo
A so ugly it's cool model was the interceptor.

They are rare but grab an l2000 with an ebony neck and a mahogany body tonal bliss....
