Little Feet, Government Mule, STS 9, Kentucky Head Hunters, Buddy Guy, Night Ranger, Rusted Root (Twice), Alpine Valley (Not a band, but a very famous venue), Tom Constantin (Grateful Dead Keyboardist), Bob Bralove (Grateful Dead Keyboadist), Melvin Seals (Jerry Garcia Keyboardist), Lillian Axe, Trixter, Railroad Earth, Pee Wee King, Jenny Jessup, Ramblin Jack Elliot and I know there are more, but I can't remember the rest

I'm afraid they're only famous in neo-hippie circles, but within the past two years Enchanted Ape opened for

* Jackie Greene
* Rusted Root

Not mega-super-stars but still notable enough to mention.

Hey, you guys opened for us a couple of times!
I actually think we did a couple of shows together. It's been a while though

I've only had the experience of opening for a well known act once. I would say it was about 1972 at Broward Community College we opened for BB King. We tried to meet Mr. King but one of his minions demurred claiming 'Mr. King was busy.' Looking behind the large fellow at the dressing room door we could in fact see that Mr. King was busy eating so we never got the priviledge of meeting him.

Steppenwolf,Canned Heat,John Connelly,Merle Haggard,The Bellamy Brothers, David Allen Coe, and my all time favorites The Kentucky Headhunters. There are several more, but these are the ones that I found to be the most fun. All the opening gigs were a result of sheer dumb luck, being at the right place at the right time.

Green Day opened for my band at a pizza parlor, among various other places. Then they got huge and we opened for them at big shows.

Blink 182 did a tour opening for one of my bands. Then they got big too. See a pattern here?

We did a tour opening for Bad Religion. We played festivals with Rancid. We opened for No Doubt just before they got huge. We played the first and second Warped tours, so played with whatever bands were on those. Actually, if you name any popular punk rock type band from the early-mid 90s, we probably played with them.

The bands I was in back then were called The Mr. T Experience and Samiam, if you're curious.

I remember hearing of The Mr. T Experience, very cool.
