Favorite "boutique" bass

I've never owned a boutique, but Dingwall and Mike Lull top my list. The best bass I've ever played was a Dingwall Super J with P/J pickups, and every Mike Lull bass I've tried has been fantastic. I also think Roscoe basses are beautifully built, and seem like a bargain compared to some other boutiques.

So wanted Alembic but it felt awful and required special pre amp box

Tried several others and chose Zon

Has everything I wanted. Sounds/ feels great and at lowest price point in comparison

2d choice would have been Curbow, Tobias , Pedulla ....

US Spector
Sadowsky

I'd like to try out some Alembics but you just don't find them around, the one that is around is one I am not interested in (Stanley Clark), I'd like to try a Elan and a Spoiler personally.

Nordy, MTD, Benavente, three of my favorites I've had the pleasure of owning, if only for a small time, still got the Nordy, my perfect bass. Haven't had a chance to try any Sadowsky or Fodera. Had a couple Roscoe's that I just couldn't get used to for some reason.

I'm not fond of any of the above-mentioned. Well, I do like the look of the single-cut Sadowsky, but Roger flat-out declined to make me a 32 inch scale version.

If I'm going to spend upwards of $2,000 on a bass, I will go to a true custom shop (who will build EXACTLY what I want according to my blueprints and material specs) rather than one of the boutique builders who just spin me out a slight variant of one of their designs...
