Speaking of imagination, there was the time we strapped a firecracker to a toad...and a rubber powered balsa plane... And a bunch if other things.

When I was about 9 or 10 my dad bought me a fully functioning steam powered miniature tractor. Like the kind that used to power thrashing machines only toy-sized.

It looked exactly like the pic below, only green not black. I think it was made in England. You filled the boiler with distilled water using a little funnel (provided), and there was this tray at the back with a wick type thing that you filled with wood alcohol. You'd light it, wait a few minutes and then crank open the throttle and watch it work. It even had a whistle. It was the coolest thing I had ever seen.

Now though it probably violates about 72 international safety codes and my dad would be hit for child endangerment for giving it to me. It was really the shiznit though and I think I still have it somewhere though it's probably not in condition to safely operate anymore.

The plastic submarine where you added a baking soda tablet to a compartment in the keel to make it submerge and surface. About a foot long.

Action Man. Especially loved the Coldstream Guards outfit.

Six Million Dollar Man - Steve Austin action figure (with the peel back skin covering his bionics). I had the space module/lab too.

Escalado. Horse racing game. You turned a crank and the little metal horses raced.

Evel Kneivel Action Bike. Wind it up, scrape yer knuckles, and watch him fly.

The James Bond Aston Martin DB5 mentioned previously.

Flight Deck. Land the F-4 on the deck of the carrier using a joystick and some fishing line.

Captain Scarlet car. The blue one with the rear-facing seat.

Spirograph.

Airfix models.

Stylophone.

Spud gun. The one with the little cartridge that you put a cap into. Looked like a little revolver. Not the compressed air one.

Yes, I do feel old.

Growing up in San Diego during the 1970's, I lived in an area of brand new neighborhoods. My friends Tod & Jimmy and I spent countless hours exploring the canyons surrounding our streets. These canyons were lousy with Rattle Snakes, as our new homes displaced many, I'd presume. However, these canyons had great trails, many of which run up and down very steep hills. Soon, being the competitive lads we were, there were serious competitions concentrating on who could ride a wagon like this, all the way down these hills, Pell-mell. I'm not sure how we only escaped with the injuries we sustained with no fatalities.
