Favorite "emotional" guitar solo

For me, ANY music and I mean ANY music that really touches me absolutely has to evoke some emotion - whether it be tears or joy. Otherwise, I don't waste my time on it. I've heard a blue million songs that are like "Okay - nice song, but nothing"
So, that being said, here's a couple that bring out those "feelings" for me:
Gerry Rafferty - Baker Street. Hugh Burns guitar work is OUTSTANDING in the solo. Nothing remarkable about the riffs per se and I think that is the important part of it.
Free - All Right Now. Paul Kossoff's solo is another example of "less is more" and it fits perfectly. 'Nuff said!
The Firm - Satisfaction Guaranteed. Jimmy Page. Sexy as hell solo. Period, end of story.
Finally, I would add Robin Trower - Bridge of Sighs. Hell, the whole song is a solo (basically) but it is as emotional as any guitar work I have ever heard...

It's funny because it's the one song Jimmy Page didn't contribute to writing. And he says that he never liked it. But I love his guitar work on this, all throughout the song.

Thanks! I grew up with the hard rock from the late 70's and 80's and that is what my specialty is. However, I'm more and more attracted to jazz as the days go by. I find my self jamming and writing more of it lately. I am the bassist for the University of Toledo Jazz ensemble. But back to Pat Metheny, just about everything he does is full of beautiful emotion. He is amazing to hear.
He's still around. Has toured off and on with Roger Waters over the last several years, and had some solo stuff fairly recently, IIRC.
Bill Nelson's solo on the tune Adventures in a Yorkshire Landscape from the Be Bop Deluxe album Live In The Air Age.
+1 to comfortably numb, and Gilmour in general.
Also, although I'm not much of a fan of White Lion or even this whole song, Vito's solo in "When the children cry" is a pretty good example of some emotional playing.

well since it started with the peppers im going to circle on back by saying that i love the solo from She's only 18
George Harrison's slide solos were always gorgeous - in standard tuning as well (stuffed if I know how he did that). His first solo album "All Things Must Pass" is one of my favourite records. Nearly all of the musicians who played on that record also played on Clapton's "Layla" (including Clapton). It's interesting listening to both albums back to back - they do have a very similar feel to them. Harrison was much underrated as a solo artist - his records were as good as John Lennon's solo stuff or any of the Wings stuff, IMO anyway.

A lot of votes for Comfortably Numb, I see. I'd certainly pick a Gilmour solo as one of my favourites, but I think I'd go for the one from Time, myself.
Without reading all 15 pages in close detail, has anyone nominated a Santana solo yet? (From the early albums of course, not the rubbish he started knocking out in the '90s!) Personally I think there is something uniquely beautiful about Song of the Wind from Caravanserai.

"Baker Street" by the late Gerry Rafferty. Mostly known for it's sax solo, but listen to the guitar solo at the end. Wow. Crazy emotional with all those huge bends.
